after hours trying to pass through the mountains we came across a long river that was painted in warm shades of pink, red, yellow and orange all merged down together into corals, for a place named as forbidden it was sure one of the most beautiful sightings i've seen till then, so much beauty laid upon such a mysterious or dangerous land.
"we'll leave the horse here, come on." said grandma while stepping out of the vehicle and wrapping the rope of the horse onto a tree.

"we're just going to cross the river by foot?"  i asked with a frown while looking down at my yellow dress and colorful bracelets on my wrist.
"we have to sueñito,"she sighed "it'll be fine come on" she said with reassurance.
"ok ok." i mumbled while gripping onto the candle.

we walked across the river and reached the other side where a giant split was merged onto the middle of the tallest mountain of the sight.
"here we go." grandma smiled down at me, i sighed and looked down at the candle in my hand trying to distract myself from the giant nerve that grew upon my chest.
"let's just go." i told her receiving a nod in return.

we went inside the dark path passing by some dark and lanky trees with faded birds slightly chirping in the distance, the cold air seemed to hit us like a slap as we continued on, as we let ourselves fall deep onto the path we were finally able to see light.
there. there it stood a beautiful town full of people and beautiful sets of palmeiras and flowers.
"wow..." i gasped, the things that hid behind all of these mountains were all so beautifully complex and detailed.

"santa maria..." said grandma adelina with wide eyes.
"how is this place so bad? it's..." i blinked and squinted my eyes as i saw a pile of smoke merging in the middle of the town "burning?" i frowned.
"let's go check it out." grandma said pulling me towards town.
passing by many of the self built houses we were able to see many of the people from the town surrounding a small food stand that was all up in flames.

"camilo we need another manuela." said a girl with short curly hair and green glasses, soon enough a girl with short black hair and tanned skin wearing a baby blue dress with rain droplets decorating the hems and collar of her dress and a boy with curly hair and yellow ruana came into the scene.
the boy twirled around ,turning himself into a full on clone of the girl, they moved their arms around as some water from nearby barrels floated  over to put down the huge fire.

the crowd began to clap and cheer as both of the boy and girl bowed at the people with full on pride, i gasped and looked over at grandma adelina who seemed to be cheering for them as well.
"amazing!" she whispered, i smiled and looked back at the people.
"what were you thinking carlos?" said a man with an afro and a yellow buttoned down shirt at a boy who looked a bit similar to the guy in the ruana.

the boy had a slightly reddish tone in his hair alongside a much shorter ruana tinted in some darker shades of the same colour alongside some light yellow.
"whatever man!" he grumbled, letting out a similar accent as the man in the yellow shirt.
"come on let's get you home." the man sighed as he patted the boy's back
"thanks for the help cami." the girl with short hair gave the boy on the yellow ruana a thumbs up.

"anytime prima!" the boy chuckled as he morphed back into himself.
"gracias manuela!" one of the women of the town walked over to the girl in the blue dress, giving her a slight handshake.
the girl smiled "you're welcome." she responded with a slight bow of her head.

the crowd broke as people continued on with their hobbies and chores, grandma pulled me with her towards the girl with green glasses.
"hola!" said grandma adelina, the girl turned over to us and gave a small smile.
"hola, como está?" she waved, i looked over at her skirt. the little stitchings of chameleons, sand clocks, flowers and butterflies alongside some symbols of wights and hearts, the skirt seemed truly like a beautifully composed masterpiece.

"is this really the encanto?" asked adelina.
"of course!" the girl smiled and looked over at us with a wide smile "you're new here!" she pointed.
"yes we are but-"
"we need to celebrate!", she clapped her hands together before sticking two of her fingers on the sides of her mouth to let out a shrieking whistle.

"time for a welcome fiesta everybody come on!" the girl shouted receiving the entire attention of the town.
"new comers!" some of the towns men whispered.
"we have newcomers!" the women grinned.

many maracas and drums began to play alongside some accordions and guitarras, people would cheer around while handing out flowers and treats to us.
"welcome!" said one of the women giving us bracelets and necklaces made out of beads.
"welcome!" one of the men gave us a small wooden toy horse.

"let's start the celebration!" said the girl in the green glasses as a bigger crowd started to form around the two of us.
"wepa!" we heard some of the men shout as women brought out food and drinks for everyone.

i looked down at my candle and at the girl in green glasses, seeing as her figure slightly faded within the crowd as she walked away towards one of the taller mountains, going up to one of the caves to let herself and the others from before disappearing from sight. i frowned.
"grandma-" i looked over and saw adelina dancing with the other towns folk.

"vamos lara! a bailar!" she giggled while carefully moving her old hips.
"you go señora!" one of the men said while hyping her up with his clapping.
i took a few steps back trying to get myself away from the crowd only to get pulled back inside to dance with my relative.
it was going to be real hard getting out of this...
