They had super powers, but they were not super heroes. If someone were to ask them their favorite pass time, they would give a whole list of illegal activities that young people should not be doing. Of course, their families and friends were oblivious to it all. They didn't even know they had powers, much less what they did with them.
Aria could take the essence of a human soul with no regret.
Samson could see into the mind of anyone he looked at.
Katianna could mess with Memory, Fate, and Time. The three most valuable things to the human race.
They all claimed to be descendants of a people they call the Outliers. Ask any one of them, and they'll tell you that they were enslaved and tortured.
But they're lying. The truth is, Aria, Samson, and Katianna all want the same thing: the world. The only problem is, each of them secretly want it for themselves. And each of them think that they have the other two fooled.

"Katianna, no," Samson said to the most powerful person in their group of three.
"Katianna, yes," Katianna replied. She hoped down off of the building they were sitting on top of and hurried towards a group of children standing around a small, neighborhood playground.
Katianna made it a point to use at least one power a day in rotation. Yesterday, she had frozen time so that she could steal the answer key to her language final. Today, she planned to exersize one of the other powers she had. If she didn't keep them in balance, one would take over and the rest would shrink away in the most painful way possible. These little children didn't have much to live for at that moment; if things got out of control, Katianna could kill them without thinking twice about it. Besides, she'd done it a few times already.
Without speaking a word, she managed to learn about each one of the five children's families. As she explored their memories, one girl in particular stood out from the rest: a little girl with fire red hair that was always causing trouble. She had two older siblings and one twin sister. Though she loved her family, she couldn't help but feel distaste for them all.
The fire-haired girl's twin loved her family as well, but she always got blamed for the antics of her sister. The other three children had painfully boring lives.
Immediately, Katianna knew which one was her victim.
As usual, she picked the one she'd have the most fun messing with: the trouble twin.
Katianna sat on the grass nearby, closed her eyes, and began to mentally work her way into what the humans call Fate. She was able to see everything that the girl was going to accomplish and everything that would happen if she didn't do it.
Well, Katianna thought, this is the one. She's the one I've been looking for.
Despite her mischievous youth, the twin was to do amazing things in life. She was to be one of the best world leaders that Earth had ever seen, and she would eventually bring peace and harmony into the hands of anyone who wanted it.
Katianna liked the world leader part, but she didn't like the peace part.
Without a second of hesitation, Katianna removed all the good things from the little girls future. She took away the chance meeting with the Pope, she abolished the girl's fond for other strong female role-models, and she made sure to delete the day where the twin would walk into a store and find the love of a sweet, yet peculiar hippie.
Without all that, the girl would go down a path of destruction. She would do the exact opposite of what she was sent to do and cause nearly a quarter of the human race to die in the process.
Now, it was time to insert things. Instead of the Pope, Katianna put herself being the one the twin meets. She made herself be the only female role-model that the girl will ever care for. Instead of the love of a man, she makes the girl find the love of a woman: Katianna. With these three factors, Katianna would be able to trick and control the girl in anyway she pleased.
All that was left was to wait out the years until she could be a part of the new Fate she had created. After that was done, the world would be her's to rule.
Content, Katianna went back up to her friends and acted like she hadn't just received everything she'd ever wanted.
And it would have worked out perfectly, if she hadn't forgotten the one rule she'd learned so long ago:
Karma is real. If you mess with Fate too much, Karma will come back to haunt you. If only Katianna had remembered that, things might have gone as planned.
But she didn't. And now there would be hell to pay.
