REALLY IMPORTANT NOTE AT BOTTOM
The wild wind whipped around your head as it poked out of the small hatch that lead out onto the roof. Your feet were positioned on the penultimate rung and your eyes - they were cast on the scene before you.
The sky was lit up by stars, otherwise a void that no light could pass through. Some clouds lingered as they danced among some of the taller buildings, phasing through each one of the monoliths. Despite such a view, it was something much closer that had your full attention. There was a familiar figure stood against the night sky, right on the edge of the rooftop as he looked up. You noticed that his hair was pulled into the style you had done for him a while ago now, his hands shoved into the pockets of his leather jacket.
Your heart was hammering and your thoughts were jumbled, but you forced yourself to continue on up. You could tell he knew you were there, yet he decided not to turn. Not this time. You advanced closer, keeping your eyes ahead all the while. Though when you got close enough, you cast them to the concrete below.
There was only a couple feet between you, nothing more than that.
Sometimes you forgot just how tall he was, his broad back almost double your size. You felt small next to him, almost insignificant in comparison. That alone took courage to stand up to and it took a lot for you to muster up the confidence just to speak.
You inhaled deeply, one of your hands rubbing at your other.
"Please don't do that again."
Silence settled over your quiet voice. Your eyes continued to cast to the ground and you shivered lightly in the wind. You had felt a lot colder as of late and being up so high only made that worse, not even the thickness of your jacket keeping you from freezing.
Though you watched his moonlit shadow shift as he turned around. Following that, you could feel his eyes on you. Those crimson else, the ones you had missed dearly. No more so than him as a whole, however.
Biting at your inner cheek, you spoke up again.
"We're going to continue on and pretend that none of this happened."
Before you could even begin to look up, you felt his arms closing around you. You were suddenly engulfed in the warmth that you had missed so dearly, your body slowly thawing. Your cheek rested on his shirt-covered chest, allowing you to hear the gentle beat of his heart. Those tired eyes of your closed softly and you let your arms wrap around his tall frame, his chin resting on top of your head.
Normality.
"I've missed you, y'know." He hummed, pulling you in a little tighter.
You nodded restrictedly in reply, letting his hands slip to your waist where his thumbs gently massaged at your covered skin. "I did too."
Carefully, you pulled away to look up at him. He still had that ever-sparkling glint of adoration in his eyes, a curl to his lips as he gazed down at you. There was a loose strand of hair he wasn't able to pull back, gently falling into his face. Your eyes traced the tattoo that underlined his eye, as inky as the night sky above.
The more you stared at him, the more he leaned down. Eventually your faces were inches away and your heart was drumming madly. All you wanted was to be with him and finally, everything was going back to how it once was. Not many people could overlook what you had just overlooked, but you couldn't help but feel that he could change...
"I'm sorry I scared you." He whispered, lifting a hand to your cheek. You subconsciously leaned into his touch, sighing softly. "I never wanted to push you away."
