The next day was a foggy, cloudy sky due to the massive fire that happened in the village. Firefighters in the town manage to head up to the village and put the fires out and the other military guards arrested the traitors on their squads. It's been a few weeks after the fire started. Maria, Alberto and the others have been staying at Ryn's friends' place until some arrangements or repairs were made in the village. Alberto and Giulia have been helping their dad with catching fish and delivering them, Luca would go back to the ocean to check up on his parents, who were more worried about him than their own health, Ryn and her family stayed in Maddie's house with Maria and her sister Cari. Ryn and her sister would teach Hope and Cari how to fight back predators and how to defend themselves and others. Whenever Alberto was finished with his 'chores,' he would head back to Maria or whenever Maria went with Ryn and her tribe in the woods to train, Alberto would stay at the house and take care of Hope and Cari. They grew on him and him on them, he was more like a father to them than a big brother. The next day, Maria woke up feeling nauseous and got out of bed to the restroom. She was feeling very dizzy and barely managed to stand. She felt sick. Probably from the smoke from the fires. Maria lifted the toilet seat and fell to her knees feeling the need to vomit. Alberto turned over and noticed Maria was gone. He looked around the room and saw that the door was open wide. Alberto got up out of bed and out the room, he heard the sounds of painful moans and discomfort coming from the bathroom. He went in and saw Maria vomiting. "Are you okay?" He asked, "Not really..." Maria said faintly as she leaned her head in the toilet. "I'll go get Simon." Said Alberto as he left the bathroom and headed downstairs where everyone was eating breakfast and watching T.V. "Hey, Simon? Could you help for a moment?" Alberto asked, "Sure. What is it?" Said Simon, "Maria's sick. Do you have any medicine for her?" Alberto asked, "Let me check up on her diagnostics and I'll see what I can do." Simon said as he goes outside to the car to grab his doctor tools and medicine. Simon went upstairs to a sick Maria and tapped her shoulder, "Is it okay if I can run some tests so I can tell what your sickness is so I can cure it?" Asked Simon. Maria nodded and tried to stand up but stumbled on the ground, Alberto quickly grabbed her before she could hit the ground and picked her up off her feet and went back in the room to set her down on the bed.

Alberto waited outside the room until Simon was finished with his 'tests.' After a few hours, Simon came out the room with his doctor tools. "Is she okay?" Alberto asked, "She should be. I can't really tell what her sickness is, so I'm heading down to the hospital for them to test her blood." Said Simon as he held up a small bottle of Maria's blood. "You drew her blood!?" Alberto panicked, "It's okay, calm down. I asked to take a small sample from her arm." Simon said as he went downstairs and started for the door. "I'll be right back." He said and left. Alberto went into the room and saw Maria laying on the bed still looking sick. "You okay?" He asked, "Yeah, a bit... He gave me some medicine hoping it would bring down my sickness and stop me from vomiting a lot." Said Maria. Alberto climbed back into bed and snuggled Maria close to him. "Your so warm." Maria said taking a few deep breaths and soaking in his warmth and comforting touch. "I've been working a lot at Massimo's fish shop." Alberto said. Maria relaxed under his touch. His strong arms wrapped around her body, though she was as tall as he was, he still was able to wrap around her and hold her tightly. They both dozed off into a deep sleep only to wake up to a sudden commotion. Alberto and Maria jolted awake and sprung out of bed to see what the commotion was. Ryn ran over to Maria, "We have to go." She said, "Where? What's happening?" Maria asked. Ryn grabbed Maria's hand and dragged her outside. They started running back to the village, Alberto followed behind them. There were villagers everywhere, surrounding the village. Tia was in the center giving a speech.

"Humans have crossed the line. It is time we stop hiding in their shadows and step out into our own light!" She shouted.

"Tia? What are you doing?" Maria asked sternly,
