The first week didn't let Jungkook lose hope. Every day he'd enter the class thinking that Jimin would realize that he was wrong or come to him to say that he missed him. By the end of the week, the hope began to tremble, but it wasn't lost. During the second week, Jungkook turned more resilient, feeling that Jimin would definitely come to him and tell him it was stupid what they were doing and apologize, but nothing of that sort happened.
By the third week, the pain had reached a plateau. It hurt all the time, but when he looked at Jimin smiling or talking to anyone, he'd find his mind's and hearts' synergy perturbing. By the fourth week, Jungkook began to feel other emotions aside from pain. Anger was a new addition.
As the fifth week approached, Jungkook was determined to study hard and score more marks than Jimin. Even if the older had broken up for the study's sake, he would beat him. Revenge was all he could think about.
The sixth week turned tough when Jungkook couldn't focus on his determination of studying. It took him two more weeks to take control of his mind. He spent two months finding himself in a state where it hurt the same, but he began to understand how to cope. Every time his parents asked him what was wrong, he found himself crying. But he knew when they stopped asking him anything, that they understood. He didn't cry anymore but felt angry at Jimin all the time.
How Jimin didn't think what would happen? All those big talks of adopting him, flirting with him, the looks that the older gave him, the mesmerized ones, all the care, the possessiveness, everything started pricking Jungkook's skin. Was it all just a waste of time? The feelings were real. The love, the friendship, and the care he felt were real.
He was in the class, asking questions with the teacher, and cutting Jimin off when he asked anything. Jimin's neck craned towards him to see his face yielding aggression. All he could see was an everlasting flame in the big eyes where once innocence resided. Jungkook didn't care if Jimin was looking at him and kept his head straight, gripping the pen so tight his knuckles turned white.
The days weren't easy for Jimin either. From the first week to the eighth week, it was constant pain and mortification. He missed Jungkook so much that every night was sleepless. So when he couldn't sleep, he sat at his study table, studying until his bones started hurting. The university fest for this year was announced early again. Everyone expected him to participate, but he knew that Jungkook had enrolled again, so he didn't.
Whenever the memories became overwhelming in his head, he went to his dance studio and danced until his feet couldn't get him up. All the agony and not expressing it had him congested, filling the levee that could overflow any day. As he saw Jungkook changing over the weeks, he reminded himself every day that he still had many months to endure, that he should get used to the guilt, and accept the anger that the younger was bestowing on him.
No matter how much he loved Jungkook, his instinct was to choose his career and follow the path he laid out for himself when he was seven.
"Yoongi Hyung, can I borrow your motorbike keys after the class?" Jungkook whispered, craning his neck towards the older boy who nodded mutely.
A few minutes later when the bell rang, Jungkook immediately stood, expectantly waiting for Yoongi to hand him over the keys and when the older did, he turned towards the school door and was out of the class in a jiffy. All the while, Jimin's eyes were trained on him so he lurked towards Yoongi. "Why would you do that? He might get in trouble."
Yoongi looked at Jimin with a bored look, not saying a word, and then got up from his seat silently. "He can take care of himself. You shouldn't be so mad for it as I heard you were the one to call it ends."
"Whatever happened between us doesn't give anyone anything to say. Besides, that's not the point," Jimin scoffed before he gaited out to follow the ex-boyfriend.
