"Well someone's definitely getting creative", she remarked with raised eyebrows. "Gutted and hung from the goalpost huh? Did they take him down?" A bright glint appeared in her eyes."Well what are we waiting for?!" An old classmate screamed in excitement.
"Let's go over there before they bring him down!" His friend agreed as they both left the diner. They quickly whipped out their phones and started texting.
"What the hell are we waiting for?" She gestured between her and Billy. "I don't wanna miss this!" She stood up and yanked Billy's arm towards the door. "You coming Randy?"
"Hell yeah I'm coming, this is a once in a lifetime sort of opportunity!" He explained with a level of unparalleled enthusiasm. She cocked her head to the side and narrowed her eyes slightly. His demeanor was a bit dubious. This whole situation was a bit dubious; it was very convenient. It wasn't a secret that she was very thrilled at the idea of seeing a real-life mutilated body, nowadays everyone was desensitized to the gore. However, Randy's behavior seemed a bit... forced. Perhaps she was looking too much into it, after all there wasn't anybody in town – who graduated from Woodsboro high - who didn't loathe the now deceased male. Everyone hated him, therefore, almost everyone was a potential suspect, even her.
"Maybe we shouldn't", he hesitated. Billy seemed to have the opposite reaction, he looked a bit queasy, the color drained from his face.
"What do you mean 'maybe we shouldn't'?" She asked, confused.
"It's sort of..." he searched for a word. "... disrespectful, don't you think?"
"Oh come on Billy, you can't tell me that you're not even a teensy bitsy bit curious", her fingers showcased the level of curiosity that he should've been showing. "Besides, we can pay our respects on the field... while they take down principal Himbry's body", a devious smile appeared on her face, the glint in her eye remained throughout the conversation.
Billy ran a hand through his hair, he hesitated once more.
"Fine, you can stay here I guess. But I'm going", she glanced at Randy. "You're still coming right?"
"I don't wanna miss this, it's huge!" He mustered up an even higher level of excitement to appease her.
"Hell yeah it is! Let's go!" They both quickened their paces and reached the diner door. She finally turned around and realized that Billy had not moved an inch, he looked so far away, he appeared to be almost worried. "Randy, I'll meet you in the car", Randy nodded his head and retreated back to the parking lot. She retraced her steps and returned to where Billy stood by the booth. "You okay?" She touched his arm gently.
He looked almost shocked to see her once more but he quickly eased up. "Yeah, yeah, I'm fine". She remained unconvinced.
"I guess all that blood and guts make you queasy huh?" She cocked her head to the side.
"Maybe, I guess", he theorized.
"It's strange though, you watch all those slasher flicks and nothing bothers you. I thought you were desensitized to all of that".
"Well... I guess not", he said with a hint of aggressiveness, wishing that she would drop the subject immediately.
"I guess it's different, seeing it in movies and real life. You can't ever get that image out of your head". She seemed to perfectly understand what he was going through, she even seemed to be trudging up a recent memory as an example. "But anyways", she shrugged her shoulders nonchalantly. "I'll see you later, alright?"
"Okay", he agreed.
She turned to walk away but glanced back once again. "And Billy?"
"Yeah?"
