The house was pulsating with energy, she could almost feel the vibrations from the car. The music blared so loud; she was sure that she would go deaf once she walked into the house. The intensity was astounding. For all intents and purposes, this seemed to be the social gathering of the century. She hadn't visited the Macher residence for a couple of months now but it hadn't changed one bit. The house was huge and surrounded by nothing for miles. If you looked into the distance, all you would see is trees, trees, and even more trees. The Macher residence was in the middle of nowhere. It was a very secluded and private property; she liked the location. A part of the reason why she liked Stu's house so much was because she hated having neighbors, it was exhausting and draining. People, in general, were exhausting and draining.
Billy had parked a little far away from the house. It was a short distance from the house but they still had to walk for a minute or two. He turned the ignition off and took a deep breath. He seemed anxious; this might not have been his scene. He wasn't a real people's person, he hated being around people, he could never act right around them. Some people got a negative reaction from his presence alone, as if he were evil personified. It was fascinating how some individuals would meet him for the first time and scatter away like cockroaches in the next few minutes, the fear and discomfort would be quite evident in their eyes. Billy just had that effect on people, he made them uneasy, it was a formidable skill. She was the opposite when it came to people, she disliked them but she knew how to work her charm. It was a strange phenomenon, it did not matter how much bad energy she would put out there, people always gravitated towards her, always interested, almost mesmerized, captivated by something that she generated. It was an amusing situation, but she used her charm and her wiles well. She could manipulate and deceive almost anyone for her own personal gain, Billy struggled sometimes with that, he was not an easy person to warm up to and maybe they shouldn't warm up to him, ever. Billy wasn't exactly a safe person to be around, that was quite noticeable.
"You need a minute or are you done hyperventilating?" She was almost amused by his incapability to walk in without psyching himself up, mentally.
"I wasn't hyperventilating".
"You were most likely about to".
"That's not true", he sounded a bit irate.
"Whatever, can we go now?"
He glanced at her with a slight degree of hostility, almost as if he hated her carefree and confident demeanor at parties, almost as if he envied her severely.
She rolled her eyes and grabbed the purse that she had previously flung on the backseat. She pulled the door handle and exited the car gracefully. She readjusted her halter top and made sure that the material was smoothed over, when she was finally satisfied, she poked her head in the car. "Well, are you ready?"
He didn't say a word, he just exited the car and waited for her to close her door. When she finally closed the door, he locked the car and waited for her to reach his side.
The leaves crunched beneath her high heeled boots as she reached him. "It's a fun party, a perfect chance to get loose and unwind", she gave him an encouraging smile. "There's nothing to worry about", she placed a hand on his shoulder to force him to look at her. "I promise", she whispered and placed a slow kiss on his lips to ease up his hidden anxiety.
"Are you trying to drive me insane?" He breathed.
"Maybe".
He grabbed her hand in his and walked towards the grand Macher house. Step by step, they walked in unison, a powerful and unstoppable duo. Something about them seemed magnetic, people turned their heads around, captivated by the approaching couple. They were a bewitching pair, incredibly difficult to ignore. They seemed to complement each other in every way and form, they elevated each other but they were perfectly matched at the same time. A ghost of a satisfied smile appeared on her lips as they walked across the lawn. She clutched Billy's hand tightly as she enjoyed the attention.
