Chapter 3: Dawn

I felt binds wrap around my body, squeezing my limbs impeccably close together. I immediately felt closterphobic and afraid, knowing this invisible force might just squeeze all of the air from my lungs. Then, strong and horribly unfamiliar hands griped my limbs sending painful shocks throughout my restricted body. I wanted to scream and thrash but instead, it was as if I was paralyzed. In the next moment, I felt fur brush up against my exposed skin and instantly saw a frightening image flash through my mind. Wolves. Angry, viscous, deadly…wolves!

Finally, as if my body had awoken from a long slumber, I felt my limbs flail as screams erupted from my throat. They’d killed me…I was…they’d… I couldn’t process a single rational thought as my entire body was suddenly overwhelmed with crazed fear. I kicked off the restraints holding me and flashed my eyes open desperately. I couldn’t focus on anything clearly as tears spilt down my cheeks. “H-elp,” I cried, rubbing my eyes frantically.

After wiping away my fresh tears, I quickly looked around to examine my foreign surroundings.             Frowning, I gazed out at the dark wood furniture, blue walls and boxing gloves hanging from the bedpost. What in the world…

Feeling utterly confused and disoriented, I placed my shaky hand onto my forehead and slumped forward. I was suddenly very aware of the painful throb pulsing in the back of my scull. What happened to me? I attempted to recall the events leading up to this moment, but I’d only come up with blanks. Okay, breathe. I commanded myself as I felt fear begin to sizzle though my veins. It was only a dream Cassidy…

“Hey…” A male, husky voice echoed into my unsettled mind and I immediately snapped my head towards the sound. There, standing in the threshold of the large bedroom, stood a strikingly handsome boy.  Never in my entire life had I seen someone so incredibly good looking. From his puffy lips, gentle brown eyes, defined jaw, and light brown hair, he was undeniably flawless. Although, somewhere in the back of my mind I knew this boy…I’d met him before.

I suddenly felt my entire body tense up as he stepped towards me. Oh my goodness. Without even realizing it, my breath sped up significantly with every inch he closed within the distance between us. “Are you okay?” He asked, frowning worriedly along with another step. No! I really wasn’t! In fact, I’ve never felt so paralyzed in my life!

“Please don’t be afraid, I know you’re probably really confused,” He started again, now reaching the side of the bed.

“Who…are you?” I whispered automatically. Having him this close caused my stomach to churn nervously. What’s going on with me? I knew I’d met this boy before but I had absolutely no idea where…or more importantly how. I mean, what could possibly possess a guy like him to ever want to even talk to a girl like me. Not to go beating my self-confidence up but…he was entirely out of my league.
