Chapter 9: Explode

Hi guys! Chapter 9: Explode

            “Riley, can I talk to you about something?” I asked softly as the two of us sat perched comfortably on my bed. After a long and restless nap, I decided to give up and settle with some girl time since I hadn’t seen Hayden or Will around. However, don’t me wrong, I really miss this; I mean Riley and I.

            “Anything,” Riley promised sincerely.

            “I…well…” I’ve wanted to talk to someone other than Hayden about our relationship just to sort out all of the commotion in my head. I guess as much as I may care for him and feel happy about this whole thing I have to still confess, deep down, that I’m confused.

            “I know,” Riley replied softly while giving me a sheepish look. “If you’re talking about Will…”

            “I’m not,” I sat up straighter for a moment. What was she talking about? And what about Will?

            “Oh…I,” Riley’s face immediately reddened as she broke eye contact with me. “It’s nothing, seriously,”

            “Riley…” I frowned feeling even more confused now.

            “What did you want to talk about?” Riley asked quickly, clearly doing her best to patch up the awkward moment.

            “HaydenandIaremates…” I stammered incredibly quickly.

            At that, Riley simply let an effortless smile sweep onto her face. “I could tell,” she laughed softly before nudging my foot with her own. “I mean, when someone of our kind finds his/her mate it’s as if they unconsciously alert all other wolves around. From Hayden wanting to spend every moment with you to the way he fought Will because he was feeling threatened well…he really wasn’t acting very quiet about the whole thing.”

            “I love him,” I whispered. I couldn’t lie to myself and say that it didn’t feel strange to say you love someone after only a couple days. However, that didn’t change how I felt. I did love Hayden; with every bit of certainty that one person could possible love another.

            “I’d be worried if you said you didn’t,” Riley giggled giving me another playful nudge. “Okay, since we’re being honest and well you’ve finally adjusted to all of this…” Riley gestured to the room around us before settling her gaze back on me. “Then it’s only fair that I tell you something too,”

            I frowned, suddenly uncertain of what she was about to say.

            “I wanted to tell you sooner but I couldn’t possible begin to explain all of this and be completely honesty with you as well…”

            “Hm?” I probed hesitantly. I knew Riley tended to beat around the bush when she got nervous over a subject.

            “Seth and I…we’re mates as well,” Riley immediately blushed as the weight of her words settled into my mind.
