Prologue

I had two options, one plausible choice. I couldn’t stay here any longer and it was because of the beautiful, innocent, perfect being lying still in the gentle cradle of my frail, shaking arms. She was my everything… and that’s exactly why I knew she’d be better off without me.

Brushing away my hot tears, I shoved the crumpled letter into my maid’s hand and gave her a solemn, heart-wrenching stare.

“Thank you, for everything,” I replied, feeling guilt creep up my spine with the thought of my trusted maid and each sacrifice made in my benefit, against her alpha.

“Take care of her,” She whispered, clearly as heart-broken as myself.

With one final look, I nodded sternly and ran toward the awaiting black-cab stationed at the end of the pack’s property line…or also known as my prior home.

Sliding into the back of the cab, being mindful of the child in my arms, I bit my lip and shut the icy door. I didn’t have to tell the driver where I was going; he’s known my destination from the very start.
