Week, Starts.
Celest 'Amele' Lia
7 a.m.
Monday morning is already off a chaotic start. I rush to finish getting ready for school, hurrying to button up my uniform shirt.
My mother's voice then echoed from downstairs, "Beauty, yuh nuh ready it?" I replied loudly, "Mi almost ready, mommy!"
It's the worst day to begin the week, and apparently, I have school. Not that I have to go.
But in order to get my cape in E. Lit, I have to attend the classes.
Honestly can not wait for my exams, so I can finally finish and leave José Marti. As I sit on the bed to tie my shoelaces, my phone buzzes with a notification from my bestfriend, ALila.
Her birthday dinner and party is Friday.
What more party she waah guh?
I cannot wait to celebrate with her though. We don't get to see each other as often since she lives in Waterford and I live in Riverton, but I was determined to make it to her party.
After a few minutes, I finished getting ready. I checked the time, seeing that I have a little more time left before I leave.
Enough time to make my tiktoks.
Finally ready, I headed downstairs where my mother was cooking up a storm in the kitchen. The aroma of curry chicken filled the air, making my stomach growl with hunger.
"Mum, why yah cook this when me a guh weh? I ask, laughing. She smiles, responding with, "Mi want yuh fi have something to eat when yuh reach home."
She always do this.
"Then look pon my clean pretty face good up daughter! Then wah mek yuh suh nice mi baby!?" She exclaims and I laugh.
