Real medz.

The vibe is just not there. Normally, every where you go you'd see the colourful pepper lights that'd always bring light to the place, but now, only bout 2 house ave it.

Everybody just big and dead fi dah Christmas yah ute.

this Christmas ain't Christmassing none 'tall

"Beauty!" I turn my head towards my room door. My mother enters and I smile when I see what she's holding. She then hands me a slice of Christmas cake and a small cup of sorrel.

This is like the best part of Christmas.

Yuh can always count on the food to be good. Especially, the cake and the sweet sorrel to wash it down.

"When yuh finish weh yah do, come help mi put up the tree," She tells me then walks out. I nod, going back to what I was doing to my hair.

Mi really just waah cut it off.

After about 10 minutes passed, my hair is finally up in a bun. Grabbing up my phone from the dresser, I make my way downstairs to help my mother.

Earlier this morning, Kevaun dropped me home to spend time with my mother before the party started. His mother was hosting a Christmas Eve party for the community and wanted us to be there.

I already had plans with Lila and some other friends to go to grand market but at last minute, everyone decided to just attend Miss Grantie party.

It's now 1:15 so I have more than enough time to spend with my mother. There's not really a lot to do around the house though- other than change the curtains, put up the lights & Christmas tree.

"But mum yuh already put it up," I say when I see the tree. She didn't even need my help.

"Yuh did a tek too long suh mi do it mi self," She says, sweeping the dirt off of the brown tile.

"Can get one more?" I ask, lifting the plate of sliced cake for her to see. She nods her head and I grin, taking the biggest one.

I watch her as she straightens the settee covers. She muss tired. A from mawning she a work round the house eno.

"Come mum," I take out a small icol from the deep freeze and hand it to her. "We ago watch two show and eat some food... we have time because the party doesn't start until 9," I tell her.

She drops down on the couch and I laugh. "Guh fi 2 snack out a dat fi mi and bring the cake come," She says.

Meanwhile I take out what she asked for, I pick out a grape soda for my self and my box food from the counter.

I put on the movie home alone for us to watch. Almost every Christmas we watch this and cyaa get tired a it.
