Chapter 17: Plan

Arlo's Apartment, 4:33

Seraphina had finished explaining herself to John in the privacy of the destroyed room. John couldn't have been happier as he finally knew what was going on with his best friend, yet he now knew that something had to be done to help her escape. They were still in each others arms, although the tears had stopped, John spoke up.

"Well, now we need to tell the others and get you out of this situation" John decided.

"That's easier said than done... How are we even going to free me, they basically own my ability" Seraphina asked back.

"Simple, we take it back. Once you aren't dependent on them, they have no leverage" said John. "Do yo-"

"Yeah, I know where to go. They take me there every time 'renew' my powers" Seraphina cut in.

With his mind having been read, John just looked at Seraphina.

"..."

"..."

"So... You gonna let me go" John asked.

"I don't know? You want me to" she responded.

"If I had a choi-" John once again was cut off.

Seraphina had put a finger over his lips to silence him.

"Let's win this first. Then we can finally go back to the way things were, but this time with more friends and stronger bonds" Seraphina added.

John smiled at this thought.

"Ugh, jeez!" John playfully said. "Are you really gonna make me stay friends with Arlo."

"What? You two make a great team! Don't think I didn't see you two go back-to-back in that fight" Seraphina reminded him.

"Don't remind me" said John. "Let's go fill them in and make a plan."

With that, the two unwound themselves from each other and got up to return to everyone. Once they were back with the main group, Seraphina explained everything to them, but now the question was if they should involve anyone else in their plan or not.

"Listen, I know it's a lot to take in, but Sera and I will be doing this and if any of you don't want to join us it's understandable" John began. "The risks are massive and life changing, if we are caught you can kiss your ability and freedom goodbye. They'll do what they did to Sera to anyone."

Silence filled the room after John's brief explanation of the risks involved.

"Tch" Arlo let out with his arms crossed. "What are you trying to scare us away? Still don't trust us?"

"Really? You want to do this right now?" John asked while approaching him.

Suddenly Remi jumped in between them.

"Enough!" She said. "We are no longer enemies here, that's all past us now!"

"..."

"..."

Silence came from the two until they turned their heads away, unwilling to say more.

"John, I am coming with you" Remi announced. "Not only do I owe you one, but my brother would help you if he was around. I'm sure of it."

John looked at her and couldn't help but notice Blyke's and Arlo's faces of concern.

"Wel-" John began.

"I'll go" spoke Isen from the back.

Now this was a sight to behold. Perhaps the last person anyone expected to join, did.
