F/N FLINCHED AT THE SUDDEN WIND THAT TOUCHED HER SKIN. All Might hovered in front of her, staring at her with an unreadable expression. She stared back at him as if challenging him with what he had to say.
The hero sighed, breaking eye contact and glancing at the floor instead. After another minute of silence, he spoke.
"Young L/n," he said, "How are you? How is your injury?"
The h/c-haired girl nervously swallowed her saliva and fidgeted with her fingers. "I've been better."
He nodded. "I understand."
She raised her head. "What are you doing here?" she bluntly asked but with the tone of actual curiosity.
"I..." he sighed, "I just want to check up on you."
She furrowed her eyebrows. "I'm okay, All Might," she said, "My father told me that he'll help tend the wounds after work. He's good at these things."
He nodded again. "Yes, but that is not what I meant," he said, "How are you? Mentally."
F/n sighed. "I'm... I think I'm fine. I'm sure I am. I just- I'm just a little... confused."
"What are you confused about?"
"Like... I don't really know what happened when All For One um... pushed me," she admitted, "It all went so quickly." She did small hand gestures before giving up and sighing softly.
"Young L/n," he stated.
"I'm- I'm sorry," she finally blurted out, "I just- I'm just so... I don't know. Weak? I'm just so weak, All Might. I can't do anything and- and I think it's better if you find another um... person instead."
All Might stayed quiet. F/n continued.
"Someone- someone said something about me being possibly the last one and- and after what All For One said, I figured that I- that you can just... find another- better person instead. I'm sure there is one- at least one more."
It was F/n's turn to stay quiet and All Might took this as a chance for him to speak up.
"Young L/n," he started, "You have to understand that we need your help. Not anyone else's. Just yours."
"But I can't do anything!" F/n exclaimed, having enough of masking her true intentions. All Might stayed calm, unlike how she wanted him to be in this current situation.
"I can't do anything," she repeated, tone firm, "And I just want you to go back to your bodies and just... Do what you have to do to save this world or whatever. I can't do that. I'm not a hero, All Might."
"I understand that you're hurt," he spoke calmly, "But you're way stronger than you think you are."
"What makes you say that?" she asked, tone indifferent, "You don't know this. You're just wasting your time. This is useless. This is so useless!"
"This is not useless, L/n," he stated.
"How come?!" she asked loudly, growing desperate.
"Remember when they said that you might be the last one?" he asked and she slowly and hesitantly nodded her head, "It was because all of them couldn't handle it and their mentality made them lose the ability to see us."
That made the girl swallow the liquid forming in her mouth. What would happen if she lost her ability? She could not afford not to be able to see her newly-made friends. Not right now.
"You still have it because you're strong, Young L/n," he continued, "You still have it because you believe in us and are still willing to help. You are a hero. You're our hero."
Tears spilt out of her e/c eyes, the same way they did to Midoriya's emerald orbs. Her shoulders shook as she let out a choked sob.
"I'm sorry, All Might. I'm so sorry," she muttered repeatedly, letting out small hiccups every once in a while.
All Might bent down. His hand touched her h/c hair, brushing it softly as he encouragingly patted her back.
"You are a hero. You're our hero."
All Might's voice echoed through her head. The two statements that repeated in her head over and over again, stuck in her heart.
This was not the time for her to watch another person do the hero work. It all depended on her.
She was a hero. And she was going to defeat a villain.
