Chapter 6 - Gender Reveal of Christina & James's Baby

Today's my doctor's appointment. I'm anxious to know what the due date is and if we're having a boy or a girl. I'm having James come with me so we can find out together. Lainie is coming over to babysit Grant and Bailey for about two hours. School starts for her after Labor Day weekend. Today's the last day of August, so we have a nice three day weekend with our kids. We were almost going to have a backyard party with some neighbors but decided against it. A good part of our neighbors are going away for the holiday weekend. Also we decided on going to our beach house in September and see how things are going there. It will be a good time to take our sons and to get acquainted with our new house.

"Are you almost ready to go?" James asked while I was getting dressed.

"Uh, almost there!" I said as I tried to get my bra hooked. I'll need a new one now! My boobs are getting bigger at my fifth month mark of my pregnancy. I didn't get bigger until later with our sons. This is a first.

"Do you need help?" James asked.

"Yes I do!"

"What do you want me to do?" He asked as I had a hard time with my bra.

"Uh, can you hook the bra hooks into the first row you see in back?" I said as I showed him what to do.

"I'll see if I can try my best." He said and positioned himself behind me. He started to hook my bra together and was almost done.

"How does it look back there?"

"Um, I have two hooks in their proper spot. It's the third one that's the problem now. Give me a moment and then I'll be done." He said and managed to hook in the third one. "There, I'm done! You need to get a new bra and very soon!" He continued.

"I know! It's unusual for me to gain more weight at this stage! I hope I can get a new maternity bra today." I explained as I pulled on a shirt.

"How about using the one you wore when pregnant with Bailey?" He asked.

"I need a new one. I think I tossed that one away. Besides my body's suddenly changing too much to my liking. I remember I gradually gained weight. Now things are a little haywire! Ugh!" I expressed my frustration.

"I hope the doctor comes up with a solution today." James patiently said.

"I hope so too. This time I'm experiencing many changes too soon. It's kind of freaking me out some." I managed to say.

"Well, I'm coming with you so please relax and try not to stress out so much. I can tell you're getting too wired up with these things. You're starting to sound like me when I was with Hydra at times. That frustration and feeling like there's some things out of your control. I'm sure what I experienced was very different for me but I can identify with your frustrations." He explained. He was standing in front of me while I looked at his eyes. It was the only thing that could calm me down. Soon he was holding my shoulders and slightly squeezing them.

"Come, we should go to your doctor soon. Lainie's downstairs and wanting to feed our sons a damn good breakfast. When we get back, I'll make sure that our sons don't bother you. You may need to rest after your doctor's appointment." He patiently said to me and took my hand as we went downstairs. I just followed him and didn't talk for a while.

"Good luck at your doctor's appointment." Lainie said as she was cooking breakfast for our sons. We had an early appointment for the morning. We're meeting the doctor around nine in the morning.

"Thanks! We'll be back in about two hours. Also it smells good in here! May I take one with me?" James said while we were in the kitchen.

"Sure thing!" Lainie said as she was about to serve a mess of pancakes to our waiting sons. I saw scramble eggs too. He carried a pancake in his hand as we left.
