Saturday January 12, 2030

We let T'Challa and Nakia sleep in late for their first full day here. We didn't expect them to be up early for no reason at all and mentioned that at dinner. So when we got up Saturday morning, we were surprised to see them out for the day. As James walked into the kitchen after our usual morning routine he asked where they were. He was carrying Grant this morning to the kitchen.

"Where is our guests, Nakia and T'Challa?" James asked in bewilderment.

"I think they went into town. They really didn't say where they were going." Bridget answered. She looked like she just got up and her hair was messy. She was trying to make coffee.

"Oh! I wish they said something last night before going to bed." He said and helped Bridget with the coffee maker. "Go to your momma, she will help you." He said to Grant as he set Grant on the floor.

"Maybe they wanted some native food for their breakfast. You should remember that they're more used to eating food in Wakanda instead of ours." I gently said to him.

"That's right. I keep forgetting that." James said as he and Bridget got the coffee maker to work.

"What do they like to eat in Wakanda?" Bridget asked.

"Oh, fresh food and freshly caught meat from native Wakanda animals." James answered.

"Sounds like they're probably visiting the local vegan places or that one new place near Ruby's Bakery. Scott showed me a new offbeat restaurant that opened when he was here recently." Bridget said.

"There you go! I'm sure that's what they are doing right now!" James stated.

"They bought muffins from Ruby's!" She said while pointing at the pink box on the counter. James looked at them and saw some familiar ones in the box.

"At least they picked what we like!" He said and let me see what's inside. They picked Ruby's new cinnamon streusel ones, chocolate chip and banana nut muffins.

"I think we need to make something with our favorite flavoring... cinnamon!" I said as carrying Rebecca around. She's very comfortable in my arms and wanted to stay there for a while. "What do you think they will like?" I asked.

"I guess we need to ask them." James answered as he picked one for breakfast. "I can go for something like Ruby's new cinnamon muffins or maybe coffee cake or cinnamon bread." He suggested.

"Those sound good. I must admit it will be my first time to bake bread. I hope I can get it right." I said while eating the cinnamon streusel muffin. Bridget went off to make herself presentable while we ate.

"Sorry about that! I slept in today and forgot to brush my hair!" She laughed when she came back still wearing her robe and slippers but her hair looked more together now.

"That's OK, I'm sure you've seen Grant and Bailey in the morning with messy hair. We don't mind." I said as I ate breakfast.

"When there are guests I just like looking more put together, if you know what I mean." Bridget tried to explain.

"We perfectly understand. Normally we do not have guests here very often. Last year's holidays and now are different because of our new little one!" I said while gesturing to our baby in her baby seat on the kitchen table.

"Thanks! I've noticed your friends are very friendly and nice. Not like my husband's friends or coworkers." Bridget remarked.

"How are your husband's friends?" I asked.

"Oh vulgar and not very good towards women. You would think military men would be gentlemen but these guys are not." Bridget replied.

"Sounds like your navy husband needs to get better friends or his current ones need to learn proper manners." James explained.
