New Year's Day

All of us spent the last weekend of 2029 having some last minute family fun with our sons. Our time is getting closer now. The two of us think Grant and Bailey are going to be ready soon for our new baby. All of us immensely enjoyed Thor's surprise party and liked the presents I got from the guests. I opened the other gifts over the weekend. Grant wanted to help opening them and I let him do so. There was more blankets and a few practical baby gifts for our baby. Spencer and Ellen included the baby proofing things as one of their gifts.

"Looks like we forgot baby proofing everything!" James said, laughing.

"Yeah! What else are we forgetting now?" I asked as I looked at what Lainie gave us. She and Noah gave us a mobile for our cradle, a baby book and a starter tree to plant outside. Lainie explained how those starter trees work as a gift for a new baby. When she said we need to plant it somewhere in the yard. It was a very small fir tree. James asked if we move, does it go with us. She said it's possible as long as we do it before planting the potted tree. James laughed at what he heard.

"Uh, I think we have everything covered. I got out our baby car seat, our other baby things and your diaper bag. That's important to have." James said.

"Oh yes. I need to pack for Saturday but I should wait until tomorrow or Thursday." I said. "That's very important to do soon!" I remarked.

"Any idea on when Bridget is coming on Thursday?" He asked.

"Oh she said she will text me sometime on Tuesday and then we'll know." I said.

"Are you getting nervous by now?"

"Kind of. I'm a little concerned for our sons and Lady." I admitted.

"Oh yes, when should we have Lady meet our new baby?" James asked. "I'm thinking when we return with the baby." He added.

"I was thinking the same thing. I hope nothing goes wrong on that day."

"I'm a little worried too. I'm sure we will be fine." James said and gently rubbed my arm.

Back to the present, on our first Tuesday in the new year. We poured over the letter and book that we got from Gayle. We needed some time alone with these. Our sons were at the Pratts this afternoon, a playdate with Brandon. First we went through the book.

"Is it Steve's story continuing or just his diary?" I asked.

"Uh, no. It's some notes he kept through the years." James answered as he flipped through it. "It does mention Jacob and his wife. Apparently he met them or just ran into the two one day. He mistook Jacob for me and mentioned my name. When the guy told him his name, Steve was curious about who Jacob was." James explained in detail.

"Maybe we need to read the letter. Steve may have more info." I said. Soon James picked up Steve's letter. It was in Steve's handwriting. It said the following:

I thought I saw your twin today. He looked so much like you but the mannerisms were different. He said his name was Jacob and that he's married to a lovely women named Guinevere. He likes to call her Evie. Also Jacob said he likes using nicknames for his friends and family. That's something you like to do too. The similarities are there but some are very slight. He did say he's a successful man with a great family and loves them too. That's only the interaction I had with Jacob but I will say it reminds me of the time we were at the Brooklyn museum and saw the one display you're always looking at. I took it upon myself to do some research on him and found some interesting things about him. He's from a small town family and has one younger brother. That confirmed to me that Jacob and you are not twins but I'm still wondering why you two look the same. I'm thinking one of his extended family either on his mom's side or dad's are related to yours somehow. It's worth looking into. In a way I feel like I've come across something you will be interested in. When you find the time, please research the following names..."
