You're both 21. (He's also tall in this, he's 5'5.) You're around 5'3, and your vision is Pyro. This is another modern AU.

Yukiko's P.O.V

I sighed, feeling the air whip around me. I was on my daily walk, which consisted of me walking around two hundred blocks. A bit much, but it was always fun. My long black hair whipped around, me taking my hair tie off my wrist and putting it up. I put in one of my headphones and started listening to some music from my iPod, occasionally stepping or tapping my feet to the beat of whatever was playing.

I stopped by the nearby grocer and looked at the cashier, who was balancing stuff on his head. "Oh, hi, Kazuha."

He looked at me quickly with a blush. "Yuki-"

He stumbled and the stuff fell off his head, making me giggle. I could tell he only did this to put a smile on my face, or he genuinely was expecting customers.

"Sorry, I didn't mean to startle you." I went behind the counter and helped him pick up the stuff.

"No, no, it's alright. I thought that today would be slow because of the carnival going on downtown. People only use the stores closest, so..." He scratched the back of his neck. "I completely forgot you visit normally around this time..."

"Oh no..." My green eyes looked at the phone box, which obviously had a now broken phone in it from it's condition. "I'll pay for... it..."

But my wallet said otherwise. I opened it and a lonely twenty was sitting in it, making me sigh. He looked at me with a worried expression.

"There's no need, I'll pay for it out of my next paycheck." He lifted my chin gently. "I know you don't have the money, and besides, I shouldn't have been stacking stuff on my head in the first place."

I felt myself blush a bit, giggling. "It was pretty funny how you stumbled..."

He paused before laughing a bit, looking at me with a smile, his face showing a bit of awkwardness. "Hey, do you maybe want to-"

"Hello? Anyone here?"

He quickly stood up with the stuff in his arms, his red streak in his hair messed up. "Yes, sorry!"

I went to get up but he held his hand out to stop me. "Don't, please. They'll think..."

His face went red, making mine do the same. I saw him talking to the customer before waving, sighing deeply. I stood up and fixed the red in his hair, him looking at me with a look I couldn't point out.

"As I was saying before, would you like to... go on a date with me?" He asked softly.

I blinked. I'd known him for nearly seven years, since high school. He knows nearly everything about me and I know nearly everything about him. We're best friends. Do I want to make this leap? I bit the inside of my lip. Think fast... he looks so nervous. I kinda always got that kind of feeling from him, that he liked me but didn't want to mess it up...

"Sure. When?" I smiled.

He looked at me quickly before smiling, going to his usual calm state. "At the carnival tonight. I'll pay."

I frowned. "But already with the phone..."

"It's alright, Yuki." He gently tucked my hair behind my ear, his thumb brushing against the freckles on my cheek, seeing him lean up for a second like he wanted to kiss my forehead. "I'll see you there?"

"I want to rendezvous at the cotton candy stall." I smiled softly, kissing his cheek. "See you then."

As I was walking out I saw him covering his cheek, a bit of blush on his ears. I smiled as I continued walking, putting in my headphones again. The grocer he worked at was close to my apartment complex, so I always stopped by at the end of my walk. I had no reason not to. As the elevator abruptly stopped on my floor I saw a bunch of girls huddled around my apartment. I sighed, walking to it.
