Both girls looked at each other before walking in opposite directions of each other. Ariel went to her room while Alice sat on the terrace in shock. Their parents knew that the girls were trying to leave the "crime" world behind. After Ariel's accident, it didn't feel right to keep working with their family so the girls decided to pursue other avenues such as fashion design and photography. Before making the switch all Alice knew was training, training and more training. Alice would be up every day at 5 am working on either her cardio or her defence skills. For Alice, the grind never stopped no matter what. Alice's life consisted of missions, training and sleep. Not exactly the best life for a nine-year-old to live. But after Alice met her sister everything started to change

When Ariel got adopted she was expected to adapt to the same lifestyle as her best friend. Considering how Ariel came from living in a group home with eight kids to living with one of the richest families in Toronto, she felt like she owed it to them. "Hey," said Ariel softly, as she sat down next to Alice. "How are you feeling about everything. Honestly, terrified and at the same time kind of okay with it" sighed Ariel as she looked up at the stars wondering about the days to come

The next morning, Ariel strolled into the kitchen to find that Alice had already left for work. Ariel noticed a piece of paper folded into a boat on the counter right next to a box full of croissants from the bakery just down the street. Ariel unfolded the note while she munched on a croissant.

Hey babe, sorry for jetting off so early but Rachel needed my help with layout for the magazine and wanted to make sure she had all the right photos. Sometimes I feel like if I weren't here everything would fall apart. Xo Alice"

Ariel smiled as she grabbed another croissant and some tea and headed out onto the terrace to enjoy the sunshine
