"We still have an hour before dawn," Yawned Hoseok as he looked out of Mira's window, "Mind if I stay here?"
She didn't fail to notice the hopeless- but subtle, look on his face like he was desperately holding onto something, she never saw him like this before.
Mira joined Hoseok by the windows since it was large enough for both of them to lean on, "You're hiding something from me."
The wizard let out a sigh, "I told you I would never use-"
"It's not that," She said sharply, "It's something else, that I should know."
Hoseok wanted to avoid this conversation, "How did you come to that conclusion?"
"You should be thrilled that you found that envelope on the bookshelf," Muttered Mira, "You did look happy, but all of that changed in a blink of an eye. Something's bothering you."
"You really want to know?" Hoseok let out a laugh.
Mira eyed him strangely, how could Hoseok be laughing? But she noticed that this wasn't a regular laugh, but a crazy one where you just didn't care.
"I'm going to get executed this afternoon."
Mira's expression became pale, and a part of her was demented, "I thought you had two days?"
"I did have two days," Groaned the Wizard, "But turns out that the King pushed it forward a day, and now it's today."
Hoseok noticed Mira clench her fists and gulped, he knew what was coming.
"You had time yesterday to escape!" She yelled at him, "Why didn't you? Instead you went looking in the King's office! You even had the key to escape, you knew you were going to die today even before you did that," Mira let out a heavy breath, "And the worst part is that you would've never told me unless I confronted you."
Hoseok's breath hitched, he terribly hated how Mira was hitting the nail on the head for all the words she shouted out, but he could do nothing. He couldn't even argue, or say something back.
Mira continued yelling at him, but little by little her words became less clear as Hoseok went deep into thought.
He can't die, he just can't. He had a whole kingdom to govern, and he couldn't let the other six down. Hoseok imagined his people chanting 'Long Live The King' , just like they did with his own father's death. And he regretted imagining that soon after.
"Mira could you stop for a second?" Hoseok spoke quietly, "I feel like I need to explain something to you."
She stopped out of bewilderment, "You? Explaining something to me? That's new."
"I don't have time for your sarcasm," The wizard said in a strict tone and looked at her, "I'm here on a mission, but it's yet to be completed. And now," He sighed, "I got captured so I'm trying to utilize my time."
"Does this mission you're talking about have something to do with the black feather?"
Hoseok nodded, "I actually wanted to go to the office for something else," He admitted, "I wanted to find the black feather itself."
Mira raised an eyebrow and gave him an odd look, "How do you know the King- out of all people, has the black feather?"
He chuckled, "That's a story for another day. But for now, all you need to know is that he currently has the feather and I need to get that feather."
"Or else?" Asked Mira, "What are the consequences if you fail this mission of yours?"
"Everything," Hoseok blurted out, "You don't know how dangerous it is, and can be when the black feather is in the wrong hands."
