Another bolt of lightning illuminated the sky with another crash.

Another cry echoed through Alexander's dorm room.

His shaking body sunk further into the corner of his room. Rain shattered against the glass, growling clouds shooting down lightning, each making Alex clutch his pillow tighter.

Flashbacks crashed into his head. His brothers cries, his screams, telling him to run. Alex did what he was told, he ran as fast as his legs would carry him, trying to ignore the cries of his street. The next thing he knew, he was crying over James' lifeless body.

Alex screamed James' name like he was still there, like he could still hear the desperate begs for him to come back.

He saw his mother laying on the bed, asleep to an outsider, dead to the

two young boys. James held Alex as he cried. He wasn't there to hold him anymore.

Daggers were sent for Alexander's heart, piercing it with the accuracy of a deadly assassin. Cries shook through the boy's body as the thunder continued to violently crash against his windows like whips.

His thoughts drifted to John. He was only down the hall, asleep in his dorm room. Alex doubted he could even make it to his own door, let alone to John's room. His throat began to close, straining his sobs. The thunder became a distant echo in his mind. He tried to remember John's voice, his warm touch. But the crash of the sky burnt the thought of John's smile out of his mind.

So he sat there, a victim of the roaring sky.

-----------------------

John was pulled out of his dreams by a rumble of the sky. His eyelids fluttered open as he took note of the pattering rain against his window. He could see his figure illuminated by the lightning, his shadow stretching down on the floor. The pattering drops and the rolling of the clouds comforted John, as he sighed into the pillow.

But then, his eyes shot open as his body tensed with worry. He threw his covers off his bed, practically falling off the mattress in the process, remembering his boyfriend's deathly fear of the dark sky. He never wanted to see him in that state again, not after last time.

John clutched his discarded jeans, frantically pulling every pocket inside out to find Alex's spare dorm room key. Once the cool metal was safely in his hand, the booming thunder shoved him out the door, he was sprinting down the hall by the time he got to the boy's room.

With shaky hands, he shoved the key in the keyhole, turning it with a racing heart. The door opened silently and John slipped into the dark room.

With a crash of the sky, a cry came from the corner of the room. Making John's heart break.

-----------------------------

Another boom came from the dark clouds, taunting the broken boy. Sobbs shook through his body, control over his body was slipping through his fingers. Screams of his past struck his heart repeatedly. His eyes screwed shut, he didn't take note of the footsteps trailing towards him. He didn't notice anyone was there until the figure placed it's hand on the small boy's tear soaked cheek.

"Hey, Alex. Hey baby, it's okay, I'm here," The man cooed in a soft voice. The small boy's eyes shot open. He was met with the warm hazel eyes that he fell in love with, and frizzy hair even messier due to the fact that the man just fell out of bed.

"J-J-John-" He choked, tears flooding his eyes again. Despite the darkness of the room, he could see into his soul through his eyes. The pain, illuminated by the lightning that snuck through the flying curtains.

"Alex," He whispered, trying his hardest not to make his voice crack under his boyfriend's state. He quickly flicked a tear off his freckled cheek before he sunk further to the floor, slowly sliding the tear soaked pillow out of his grasp. A bullet met his heart as he saw how violently Alexander was shaking. John grasped his small, buzzing hands in his, wincing at the freezing temperature. The smaller boy's shoulders shook with such ferocity that John's hands, in Alex's, followed suit.

John placed his hand gently on Alexander's cheek, blocking tears from following the other tears down his pale cheeks.

"I- I- I can't stop s-seeing t-them, Jackie," He whispered with his eyes screwed shut, leaning into John's warm touch.

"It's okay, I'm here now. It'll be over soon, Lex," John cooed. Alex shook his head furiously, diving forward and wrapping his shaking arms around John's neck. The curly boy just held him as tight as he could, whispering reassuring sentiments in his ear. With each bolt of lightning, Alex's body shook more, his grip tightening around his boyfriend's neck. His sobs like bullets in John's heart.

They sat on the floor, Alex sat in John's lap, his arms sealed tightly around his boyfriends neck, his legs around his waist. The thrashing rain calmed down over the hour, Alex's cries followed, getting quieter. Now his whimpers and the light tap of rain was all that echoed the room. His shaking stopped and his tears barely fell.

"Alex? Baby?" John called softly. He received a sniffle and a slight hum in response. "Are you okay?"

"I-Yeah. For now," He said softly. He pulled his arms away from John's neck, his legs still firmly in place. His small hands went to either side of his boyfriend's freckled face. John's hands dropped loosely to Alex's back, a curious look on his face. "Thank you, John. I don't know what I'd do without you," He whispered, tears burning his eyes at the thought.

"Hey, no, Lex, don't cry. It's okay." John's eyebrows furrowed as he brought his hand to his face, swiping away the stray tear off his pale cheeks.

"I-I can't help it. I just love y-you so mu-much, I-" John slid his hand through Alexander's long, dark hair, and pulled his head towards his, pressing their lips together softly.

"I love you too, my Little Lion. I'm never leaving you,"
