"Look at her."
Pepa stared at the little girl, the air she's inhaling seem to not reach its respectful destination because of how breathless she sounded and it caught the attention of the other two Madrigals beside her.
Felix and Julieta were quick to move their eyes at the little girl walking around with a tired and anxious expression while hugging the three books close to her chest, she looked so timid, wary, and weak as she bit her lower lip.
Felix couldn't help but let out a soft laugh upon seeing the little girl's appearance, "Is she new to our town, mi vida?"
Pepa shrugged her shoulders indicating that she doesn't know for sure, she was unable to form any appropriate word as she continued to stare at the little girl.
"I should let Luisa and Mirabel hang out around her, she seems close to their age," Julieta said, gently cupping her own cheek as she continued to gaze at the girl's bewildered expression.
Something about her made them.. Feel strange.
"I'm gonna approach her, let go of me, Felix," Pepa demanded with a firm tone which made her husband do what she said.
The tall woman didn't waste any time walking over to your exhausted form, she can feel the butterflies and the happiness creeping up to her chest when she finally got close to you.
"Excuse me." Pepa cooed, the voice sounded so gentle and friendly when she called out to you.
You jumped from your spot and even halted from your tracks when you heard a voice speak from behind you, you quickly turned your head to look at the beautiful stranger who approached you.
The female Madrigal couldn't stop her heart from melting at the way you turned to her, you looked so adorable, so small and so.. clueless. You looked so pure yet so deceiving. She can't help but feel the want to protect you, to control you.
"Yes?" She snapped out from her disturbing thoughts upon hearing your whisper, she could've sworn that you even raise your eyebrows in confusion and that only made her want to take you home to their magical house.
But of course, she can't do that yet.
"My name is Pepa Madrigal, I'm one of the people who live in that colorful house." The woman moved aside so she can point Casita from her spot and you craned your neck to look at where she pointed, "We call that house, Casita."
A small smile made its way on your lips, your eyes sparkled with innocent curiosity and joy when you saw the window move as if it was waving towards you.
Pepa couldn't contain the glee she felt and touched your cheek, her hand squeezed your rough yet soft skin and she could've sworn that you almost burned her hand because of how warm you felt.
"What's wrong, Señora?" You asked politely and respect seem to scream loudly from the tone you gave.
"Ah! That's very rude of me, isn't it?" Pepa quickly pulled her hand away, she placed both of her arms behind her and gripped her plain dress to stop herself from engulfing your smaller form.
"I don't really understand but I'll just say no." You murmured, offering her a polite smile before turning your whole body to her. You gripped the books in your arm to stop your heart from exploding.
You rarely go out of your house because your parents are the ones who go out but today, they couldn't do that because your mother fell ill so she had to stay in bed for the weekend with your father staying by her side to take care of her.
You just happened to go out because the books that you had borrowed from the small library were due to be returned tomorrow so you decided to go out and take a few books with you after returning the old ones that you had borrowed.
