Three weeks had passed and the news about your mother's declining health had spread around the town. The rumors, pity, sadness and the worried whispers of the townsfolk wouldn't stop talking about Julieta's failure of healing your mother.
"It seems that the magic can't heal everyone."
"Idiota! Just because her cooking is magical doesn't mean that she can cure every illness."
"Well, you have a point, but still.."
"Yeah.. I feel bad for (Name).."
"That poor child.."
Dolores smiled, her head turning towards the adults and the young adults that was gathered around the table as they patiently wait for the good news.
"The rumor said that it wasn't Tia's fault." The young lady giggled along with the cheerful whispers of her family, all of them looked so happy and excited before they turned quiet once again.
"We have no suspicion set on our family." She added on, lips curling up into a bigger smile as her eyes sparkled with happiness.
Her heart leaped out of her chest from too much bottled up feelings from the past few weeks, they were so careful on their every movement because they didn't want to miss any step and fail.
"Papa!"
She stopped smiling when she heard your panicked yells and cries which soon followed with a series of heavy and quick footsteps caused by your father.
She placed her finger in her lips and it successfully made her family quiet again so she positioned her head properly in the air to listen carefully to your words and your father's broken sobs.
"Mama just stopped breathing! I-I was reading her the book she love but s-she-"
You couldn't finish what you were saying because a broken cry soon escaped from your mouth.
"Mi amor.. Oh, mi amor.."
Your father whispered harshly in the air, Dolores can hear the shuffling of fabrics before your terrified gasp reached her ears.
"P-papa! Wait!.. Please drop that knife!"
The man let out a mocking scoff, she can hear how the blade got swung in the air because of the sound it made which made her heart drop to her stomach.
"Your mother is already dead! I have no more reason to live, (name)!"
Dolores were quick to stand up from her chair, eyes widening in horror when she heard your footsteps get closer to your father's spot.
"Her father has a knife! He's planning to kill himself because his wife is finally dead!"
She was the first one to run out of the kitchenette, her feet carrying her weight towards the direction of your house. She can hear Alma ordering for Isabella, Luisa and Julieta to follow after her while Felix, Pepa and Agustin will prepare for the funeral.
Alma's voice sounded happy yet disappointed, the tone of disappoinment is pointed towards your father's action but the happiness is caused by your mother's death and probably also by the possible death of your father as well.
Dolores also felt happy but terrified too because she can still hear your panicked and worried cries towards your father, the anxiety and fear from your voice pained her deeply which made her feel useless at the moment.
"Dolores! Turn left at the next corner! Its the shortcut towards her house!" Luisa yelled out, the mentioned lady gladly followed her direction then she heard a series of plants sprouting from the ground, pillars and walls.
She saw from her peripheral vision that Isabella had lifted herself off from the ground using her gift, she sent Dolores a knowing look which she nodded her as her response then Isabella took off towards your house.
"Hermana—" Dolores only ignored and ran past the shapeshifter which left the five years old boy confused.
Camilo perked up at the startled shrieks of the people around him which made him curious and turned his head to look back where his sister came from.
His confused expression turned into a terrified one when he saw Luisa running in full speed, her expression showcased her true feeling which is worry and fury.
She ran past him just like what his sister did to him a few seconds ago, his lips pursed in irritation and hurt before finally deciding to follow behind his cousin to see what made them run in hurry.
He shape shifted to the fastest kid in town— Daniel, and it gave him a newfound boost in speed so he quickly caught up to his strongest cousin who came into a halt infront of the (last name) home.
He shifted back to himself, his brows furrowed in confusion when Luisa and Dolores burst through the front door. He can see the vines that was hanging around the house and it gave him an idea who was behind it.
He was about to take a step forward, but the cries of a little girl made him stop moving from his spot.
Isabella rushed out of the door, her arms wrapped around your crying and trembling form gently, the young lady caught Camilo staring at the two of you with wide eyes and she never felt so happy upon seeing the little boy near her.
"Camilo! Oh thank goodness," Isabella managed to breathe out in relief before walking over to him, "Please take care of her while we fix the issue inside her house."
The young lady placed you down on the ground, you were still tearing up but you listened to her and nodded your head. She gave you a kiss on your forehead and your tears stained cheeks before she stood up and ran inside the house again.
You stared at the wooden door of your house, the scenario and the words of your father came back to your mind which made your heart ached. You unconsciously scoot closer to the shapeshifter to seek comfort and hear some reassuring words.
The Madrigal stayed quiet, his hazel eyes examining your face that is covered with tears and snots.
Beautiful.. He cooed in his mind.
His heartbeats became faster as he reached out to touch your cheeks, the feeling of his hands on your skin made you turn your attention and Camilo didn't expect you to look at him with your (color) eyes with so much sadness and pain.
He doesn't know what's happening but when you wrapped your arms around him and pulled him close to you, he gladly hugged back with his hand going to the back of your head to give you a couple of reassuring pats which helped you to calm down from crying.
Quiet sniffles and whimpers reached his ears and he couldn't help but feel his heart from beating faster by how adorable you sounded for him, he could only wrap his arms tighter around you and pull you even closer to him while whispering sweet nothings and reassuring words to your ears.
He guided you towards the side and let you sit down on his lap, he was still a little taller compared to you so he can and will have you on his lap wether you like or not.
"Everything will be fine soon." Camilo cooed towards you, his little thumbs caressing your cheeks as he wiped the tears away from your skin.
You only let out a couple more sniffles before leaning your head towards his shoulder, a large smile broke into his face when he felt you wrapping your arms around him once again. His chest swelled with happiness, delight and an unknown emotion.
He doesn't know what it is but he is sure as hell that he loves it.
