"I just want it for tonight. Why can't you let me have it for one day? Anyway it's mine." said Max

"Even though it's yours, you gave it to me as my last birthday gift. So it's mine now, and what happened to yours?" I asked while holding my stereo as though I'm protecting it.

"I already told you, it's not working and I want some music in the car tonight. Just let me borrow it for one night."

It is Tuesday morning, I was getting ready for school when Max entered my room and asked for the stereo. I told him I can't sleep without music at night, but he only wanted it for tonight since he was going somewhere. I don't care what he does or where he goes. I never did. All I care about is that I won't have music for one night, and I'm not ready to give up my stereo. You never know the value of staying without something unless you are addicted to it. It is getting late for school, I need to come to a deal fast.

"You know well more than anyone that I can't sleep without a distraction. And yet you came to ask me. That's not fair Max."

Trying to take the stereo from my hands, he said, "Cut the bull already. You can listen on your mobile phone or laptop with headphones."

As I held it more tightly, I said, "Well, why can't you have it the same way then? Use your phone. Wait! What happened to the music system in the car?"

"My bad luck, it's not working too. Can't we come to an agreement? What would you like in return?"

Neither I know how nor why, but I have the perfect favor to ask the playboy.

"Well!" I said and waited a moment before asking "How do you start a conversation with a girl you like?"

"Wait what? Why are you asking me this? Are you..."

"Hold on! Don't go there. Lucas told me to ask you. "

A doubtful tone filled his voice as he said, "Really, why me?"

I and my friends know you only as of the playboy. That's why."

"I am not a playboy."

"You had 5 girlfriends before Sophie. Whatever, it is okay if you don't want to say some tips. Just go and find a new stereo."

"Wait. The only thing that girls love is attention and another thing they hate is ignorance. So give them attention and ignore them after that. That's it. Is this really for Lucas or?"

"Thanks, Max Rivers. You've been a great help. You won my stereo for 24hrs. I better get going. Bye!" I said as I took my bag and came out of my room

"Good Riddance!" I can hear max shouting from inside. And I said "Feeling the same."

Leaving the front door, I waved at my mom. December weather strikes. It's 8:15 in the morning, and I have to be at school by 8:30. Outside, it is very cool. I am wearing a black hoodie and sand-colored jeans. My conversation with Max delayed me by 10 minutes. I wanted to go fast, but I couldn't because of asthma and the cool air.

Throughout the whole way to school, I was thinking about what Max said. The 'ignorance and attention' theory. But what really matters is whether Annabelle is the kind of girl who will fall for such silly tricks.

The mind said, "You don't want to make her fall for you idiot, you just want to get to know her." I replied, "I know it, can you please just hurry up my legs."

My first class in the morning is Financial Accounts. I sprinted as fast as I could when I reached the school at 8:45. I had to lock my bicycle in the parking lot and walk down the west corridor. As the classes continue, the whole block is silent. When I reached the corridor, I saw a girl walking towards my class, only 10 steps ahead of me.

'Yes! It's Anna. We are both late for class. As I walked faster to get closer to her my footsteps made a noise in the silent block. She slowed down. She turned around.

It's the first time I see her from this close, which is way more than yesterday at ROR. She is wearing an orange top and black jeans. Her hair is tied up even with her bangs. She has a 'Hannah Montana' theme backpack. I slowed down as well. I saw that look again. That look she gave me the other day. No smile, no regret. She stares at me with those sharp and beautiful eyes. She can kill me only with those eyes. I want to know what lies behind them. Keeping from looking away or walking past her, I did the same. After a moment, she turned around and began walking normally again. I followed her. As we approach to class, I can hear Mr. Omar's voice.

She said, "Excuse me, sir!" as she stood at the door. I was standing behind her.

The distance between us is a lot closer than in the hallway. She's only a foot away from me. Now I can compare our heights. She's shorter than me. I'm 5'7", so she is about 5'2" tall. Her head is exactly at my chin.

Mr. Omar said, "Yes, come in," without turning away from the board.

She entered. Sir was busy writing something on the board, so I entered without asking permission. Anna sat on the third bench from the first, and I sat beside her as usual on the last bench beside Lucas.

"You talked to her?" whispered Lucas

"Nope. Why do you ask like that?"

"Well, Anna and you came to class late and at the same time together. So.."

"Just focus on the class dude," I said

As I drew out my notebook to copy all the rules of accounting from the board, I glanced at her for a moment to see if she would give me a glance. About 3 seconds, she looked at me. A moment later, she turned to the board and began to write. I can only see her from one side. I can't tell what expression she has. But something made me think she was smiling on the other aside...
