Chapter 7: The divine he had

"Start, now." Ash urged Misty.

"I already told you, I can't tell you." Misty retorted.

"Then why are we here?" Ash asked, trying to push Misty over the edge and spill everything from her.

He thought it was just a stupid prank. All that she had said was a joke. Although he couldn't explain about the palace vision thing.

"I didn't wanna be in there.." Misty said in a low voice. Sadness radiating out her body.

"Can you at least tell me what you said about yourself? Dead yet alive?" Ash asked as he leaned forward, elbows resting on his knees.

"I already told you, I'm dead yet alive. I can't pass to the afterlife." Misty stated again.

"And why is that?"

"Dammit." Misty cursed under her breath. After a staring session between both of them, their surroundings changed.

They both were still seated on the single couch, facing each other, but the walls that used to surround the house that they were in, everything changed. It was replaced by a huge palace in which they were seated at the center.

Ash looked around, terrified and surprised. He looked at a man in fancy high quality clothes, smiling at a young girl who was handing out gifts in the courtroom. Every person passing blessed her, showering her with their wishes. A woman dressed elegantly in luxury and expensive clothes came out from behind them, joining the man in smiling at the girl.

She looked familiar yet again. Everything was going smoothly and normally, as if Ash and Misty were not just sitting in the middle of the court. Some people even passed through them, not even acknowledging their presence.

Ash looked at Misty in horror, and then back at the girl handing out gifts. It clicked Ash.

It was Misty.

The girl looked awfully familiar to the girl in the painting he had seen in Misty's room. Beautiful orange-blonde hair. A slim, petite body with a bright face accompanied by a pair of beautiful Cerulean eyes and a breathtaking smile.

Misty's face was yet again calm. Not bothered by anything that was going around them. It was as if she had expected this to happen. Ash felt like he was back in some kind of era, watching the past.

"What is all of this?" Ash asked, horror struck.

"The Elenial Empire, and it's people." Misty answered simply.

"Why are you there?" Ash asked, his mind filled with questions to no extent, confusion visible on his face.

"I am the Elenial Princess."

"Why am I seeing this?" Ash asked her, ignoring her answer.

"You refused to believe whatever I told you." Misty stated.

"Would you believe in someone who told you they were a royal in their past empire which existed four hundred years ago and that they were dead yet alive? Would you?" Ash enquired, making Misty sigh.

"I won't."

"That's it. Any normal human being in their right mindset would not believe these things. Look Misty, I've only read about magic and fantasies in story books my mom used to read me. I in no way believe whatever this is. You cannot, and I mean, cannot be dead yet alive at the same time." Ash explained his thoughts.

"I have absolutely no interest in knowing what the world told you, but the world I lived in was very different from this one. Humans just ruined themselves. They destroyed everything." Misty said in anger.

"This is not Harry Potter or something. Fantasy is not real." Ash told her through gritted teeth. Their surroundings changed back to normal again. The walls, the tables, the frames, everything was back to its place.

"It is, whether you like it or not."

"How could I see these things?" Ash asked.

"I can share anything and everything I want with you." Misty stated.

"Why me?" Ash asked, confused.

"Because you're the chosen one." Misty revealed.

"...Say what now?"

"You're the only one who can see this house. You're the only human who can hear me. Why do you think that's happening?" Misty asked him, crossing her arms.

Ash looked at the ground. He did remember the man named Adam saying that there was no house here. He remembered the demon he had seen before all this happened. He remembered how Misty came towards him in less than a second and went back to her place the same way on the day before.

He didn't wanna believe all of this. He didn't wanna believe her, but sadly, he had to. There was no way he was gonna get to the bottom of this while thinking it was all a joke. From all the time he had been with Misty, he could tell she wasn't one of those who would joke.

"Misty," Ash said in a low voice, finally moving on from his denial state, "is this all really real?" He asked her genuinely.

Seeing him, Misty's face softened a bit. "Yes Ash, it's true. It's real."

"Who am I?" Ash asked, his voice deep. After hearing the chosen one from Misty earlier, he had started to question his existence too. Had he been lied to and brought up in the real world while he was supposed to be in the world Misty was talking about? The amount of questions and confusion that filled his mind at that moment was indescribable.

"Someone who supposedly can save me from all of this." Misty replied.

"What do you mean?" Ash asked, looking her in the eye.

"You can help me have peace. That's why you're the chosen one." Misty explained.

A thunder from outside made Ash flinch. It was unexpected, he didn't know it was raining.

"It's raining?" He asked, completely forgetting about the question he had asked a moment ago.

"Storming." Misty corrected him, nodding in response. Forgetting everything going on, Ash went towards the nearest window, a soft smile on his face. Seemed as if all that he had encountered today never happened.

He always adored the rain. The feeling of the drops against the window or against him, made him feel peace. The after smell of the rain, the petrichor of the ground and soil, mixing together with the delightful smell of nature always calmed him, no matter what situation.

When he was young, he always used to play outside whenever it rained, ignoring Delia's protests against it. Although the smile and joy on his face made her smile as well. She used to see her son through the kitchen window, enjoying the rain no matter what his age was.

Misty noticed Ash's sudden change of behavior. Being the smartass she was, she figured that he absolutely loved the rain. Slowly getting up, she followed suit, standing a bit behind Ash who had already opened the window and was staring outside at the beautiful night sky pouring down rain.

"It's so beautiful..." Ash said to no one in particular as he looked outside.

Misty mentally agreed with him. She had a special side for rain as well.

"Ash? Can you come back for a moment?" Misty requested Ash after a while. She really didn't want to disturb his precious time with the rain, but there were other important things that needed to be taken care of.

"Why? Let me be." Ash said, not even turning to face her.

"There are some things I wanna talk about."

Who else loves the rain?

I do.
