Marinette Dupain Cheng, or Chara Amora Stone, is 16 years old and her life is complicated.

Her dad, Jagged Stone, had entrusted his brother in all but blood Tom Dupain with his Daughter in order to raise her away from the craziness that is paparazzi and fans.

Chara's life was normal at first, but got pretty complicated when she first started high school.

She had been bullied by Chloe Bourgeois for 4 years when she had got a Miraculous at age 13 and became Ladybug and her partner Chat Noir made his debut the same day as her.

About a year after she became Ladybug, Lila Rossi came to school with all kinds of "amazing" and "cool" stories about her so called adventures. She apparently being the only person in her class at the time to not believe Lila's stories, had refused to believe them and acted sceptical about them. She gave a call to her dad later that day about Lila and her tall tales and he immediately wanted to sue the girl, minor or not the lies she was telling about him could ruin him should anyone of importance believe them.

Chara told her dad to hold off on the sueing Lila for now as she wanted to gather more evidence against her as the girl had acted as though this wasn't the first time she ran the show. And boy was she right, but more about that later.

When she was 15 the guardian of the Miracle Box at the time, Master Fu, was compromised and had to pass down Guardianship of the Miracle Box to Chara. He was one of the only people she could trust with her true identity. Her family, Grandma Gina, Great Uncle Cheng, and Grandpa Roland were let in on her true identity long before and or recently in Grandpa Roland's case.

After a talk with Tikki, Plagg, and the rest of the kwami's they had agreed to let Tom and Sabine in on Chara's secret identity. They had been surprised but proud alongside with worried.

The aftermath of Master Fu passing down Guardianship of the Miracle Box had been hard on Chara and the kwami's. The Kwami's because despite the mistakes Master Fu has made in the past, he was one of the nicest guardians they have ever had and would greatly missed him. And Chara because she had started to see him as an honorary Grandfather and would greatly miss him but would forever remember the times they shared.

In the wake of Chara becoming the new guardian Chat had been on her, making back to back suggestions that now that she's the guardian that they can reveal their identities to each other and finally start dating. She of course would say as much as she would like to trust him with her identity, she couldn't, not yet anyhow because he was thinking about something such as dating each other when they needed to take down Hawkmoth and Mayura rather than date each other. She explained that while they are teenagers and should be allowed to have a life, that their life outside the mask should stay outside the mask and not let it affect their decisions as their alter egos. Now that a lot of their temperary holders were compromised they had to figure out what to do and soon otherwise they would be left at a big disadvantage.

Chat had resignedly agreed, but later began throwing a fit which quickly became not only frustrating but quite frankly annoying and tiresome.

Chara had also let her dad and soon to be mom know about her secret identity. Like Tom and Sabine they had been shocked, proud, and worried. But they understood that this was something that not only was she entrusted to do, but something she couldn't just give up on and abandon thousands of innocent people to deal with. They had luckily understood.

Oh and Chara forgot to mention that she has a brother and a sister. Her sister is one Juleka Couffaine and her brother is one Luka Couffaine. That was another thing that would be explained later.
