Brett couldn't understand what Liam was on about, everything had been amazing this morning. Was it all an act? Brett didn't know, but what he did know was that his heart ached and his inner wolf screamed for its other half, it's mate, Liam.

Liam and Hayden joked about all night while watching a movie and Liam had decided to ask the question that had driven him to break up with Brett, his mate.

"Hey Hayden?" Liam said slowly

"Yes" she said eagerly

"Do you wanna like..... go on a date with me?" The words were like fire on his tongue

"Do I? DO I? OF COURSE I DO!" She squealed excitedly

— The next morning

Scott was worried about what had happened between Liam and Brett at lunch so he phoned Liam, but the beta didn't pick up. He sighed and called Brett instead

"Hello" a low voice said through the phone. To a normal person there would have been nothing wrong, but Scott was far from normal so he could tell Brett had been crying.

Scott froze for a few seconds, or at least he thought it was only a few seconds, he didn't know how to speak anymore. Brett never cried. "Hey, it's Scott" he spoke

"Oh, Scott, what's up" Brett said trying to sound like normal

"I was just wondering what happened at lunch, don't worry is u don't want to talk about it I'm not going to push you" Scott spoke softly

"No it's fine" its everything but fine Brett thought "Liam.... He..... broke up with me" Brett said slowly

"Seriously?! Just yesterday he was completely head over heels for you! Somethings not right.." Scott said thoughtfully

"It doesn't matter, it's his choice, it was only a matter of time...." Brett said sadly

Just at that moment Scott got a message "hang on I got a message..... from Liam?!"

"What dies it say?" Brett asked

"Nothing... it's his location... we have to go there, he may need our help!" Scott said hurriedly

"You go, he won't want to see me..." Brett responded

"Huh what was that? Oh nothing, cool, see u in five, I'll send u the location" and with that Scott quickly hung up not giving Brett enough time to protest

Liam had taken Hayden out into the forest clearing for a picnic. They set down the blanket and sat on it. "Wow this place is lovely!" Hayden smiled

"Yeah.." Liam forced himself to smile

"I'm so glad that you broke up with that moron.. what was his name? Doesn't matter, he's irrelevant, you have me now! And I'm soooooo much better!" Hayden continued to tell Liam how much better she was than Brett and that Liam must be over the moon that she said yes to this date. Liam just sat there silently listening, waiting for the right moment to make his move.

Liam heard two pairs of footsteps approach and sighed a sigh of relief. Scott got his message... and he brought someone else?

Liam gasped "you ok li?" Hayden asked as she scooted closer

"Yeah... I just...uhhh... it was nothing" it wasn't nothing, he recognised that scent. Brett. Liam had eased a bit from the presence of his mate.

"Hey li?" While Liam wasn't paying attention Hayden had got closer, a lot closer. She was practically on his lap now... and she was leaning in closer.

Liam heard the gasp, so quiet that Hayden wouldn't have heard it. it was Brett. He could see them. Liam cleared his mind of his mate and took this opportunity.

In one quick movement he snatched the ring on Hayden's finger away and she screamed out in pain. "Liam!" She shouted, darting away into the shadow of the only tree nearby.

"What's the problem?" Liam asked pretending to be innocent

"N-nothing" Hayden stuttered

"Well then come back and let's finish what we started" Liam flirted

"I can't" Hayden spoke softly "why don't you come here"

"No I like the sun, come back" Liam patted the blanket next to him

"Liam.." Hayden said in a low hiss

"Fine... I'll finish my date with someone else then" Liam sighed

"Oh really? Who" Hayden laughed

"The person I actually love" Liam laughed back

"What?! Who?!" Hayden was extremely pissed off now

"Brett"
