No matter what kind of treatment you get you will be poked with needles. For radiation they give you little tattoo dots to know where to give the treatment. Chemo is given through ivs or ports and then you have the blood tests. So whether you like it or not you will be around needles. Depending on how long and what kind of treatment you get, talk to your doctor about getting a port. A port for those of you that don't know, is a device that is attached to a catheter and threaded into a large vein in your chest. It will make it so you get poked only in one spot. I have a couple of tattoos but I hate medical needles. Just the sight of them makes me want to run. I got a port before my first treatment and then had it removed after a while and after that they would use the veins in my arms. Whether you have a port or just get your veins poked please remember to drink tons a water the day before and day of treatments and tests. It will make the process so much easier. If you are like me and can't stand needles just look away. Let the nurses know and they will tell you before they poke you. It also helps to take a deep breath in and out.
