Frozen in fear staring at this stranger beside me, l'm calculating how I can leap out of this moving vehicle, when she heads me off with, "My name is Magan Daisy. Sorry for the switcheroo. Tom's been compromised. Don't worry you're safe, and so is everyone else. So far. We have intelligence that suggests she's under surveillance, as a suspected member of the Sorrociety, officially named the Sisterhood Surveillance Network. I recognize that you understand only the basics, but I also understand that you're a quick study. I'm going to give you a crash course, so buckle-in." She looks at me for a second, and clearly assesses that it's safe for her to continue. "The members of the SSN are unknown to the New World Government, and this is purposeful, because as you may or may not know, our Global Constitution mandates this distinct disassociation. This is to prevent any influence over the SSN's findings, by members of government. This arrangement was acceptable to the NWG upon the creation and implementation of the Global Constitution, when it was without corruption or personal agendas. Over the years within various NWG's Councils, however, there have been sprouts of greed, nepotism, manipulation, power-lust, all of which would have grown into corruption if left unchecked by the SSN." She pauses again. "Okay," I offer as a response.
My chauffer continues, "Every once in a while, since our inception about 100 years ago, the SSN will get intelligence about factions within the Councils of the NWG trying to learn the identity of the SSN membership. This always signals brewing corruption and allows for our early intervention. While we knew some of the anti-cure-sympathizer members of the Councils were inevitably behind the removal of your experimental template and samples, until this morning we had no indication that the NWG was trying once again to identify the SSN members. As soon as this happens, we have to tighten everything up. We've had to do this several times over the decades, ever since Dylan Dwyer came onto the scene in fact, so we have an effective and efficient process to do so. Dwyer was very apt at getting people very intense about the risk of the Y. Her followers were motivated, and while she stayed above the fray of political corruption, she intentionally motivated people to engage in it, in order to advance the cause of keeping the future female, by any means necessary. She would intelligently recruit those with almost as much ability but not as much to lose, as she, to do her bidding."
My overloaded brain is processing the information slowly, and so I didn't catch her next pause intended for me to indicate my understanding. She checks-in, "Hey Dany, you getting this?" I nod and unintentionally make some sort of acknowledging grunt so she continues, "Point is, we've been very busy lately following the anti-cure movement within the Councils, and monitoring how that movement is disseminating information to the global public. The tides are turning, Dany, as more and more youth are being quietly indoctrinated with the idea that bringing males back to the planet will guarantee the destruction of our universal utopia. The Cure isn't as publicly desired anymore. The number of people who maintain that we should fulfill our oath to return males to the planet, as prescribed within our Global Constitution, is dwindling each year. Somehow, we didn't catch the pattern of anti-cure leaning members being integrated into positions within the Leading Councils over the past few years. It's quite frankly embarrassing, and there's already an inquiry within the SSN to assess how we missed it."
She looks over to visually see me digesting her information. I look back at her and nod. "The timing of your successful Cure template completely screwed-up their plans. Their plans were to announce the chromosomal degradation crisis, sugar-coating it with claims and hopes of spermatozoon-skeletal-host cloning success, bringing us egg-to-egg fertilization which would make the unpleasant news, far more digestible. They were all in an excited tizzy over making the announcement on March 13th, during the Ceremony of The Last Man Standing, thinking that the pomp and circumstance would be a smooth delivery method. That gave them a few months to prepare their information unveiling, when Joan sent your experiment template into the Science Council for correlation confirmation. Their problem to overcome, is that cloning has two knocks against it in public perception, which are that it still makes many people uncomfortable as a means of bringing forth healthy offspring, and that is fully dependent upon technology. If it was the only solution to the chromosomal degradation crisis, then it would be accepted with open arms by almost everyone. If, however, the public learns that we are actually on the doorstep of the Cure, they may be more likely to support that avenue of species salvation, running contrary to the anti-cure preferences of those on the Councils."
