a paper, a letter

Link flopped down on the bed and pulled his phone from his pocket.
He frowned.
The case was the wrong color. He realized with a start he must have grabbed Zelda's phone instead of his own on the way out.

"That's going to make texting her a little more difficult" he thought

he stared at her lock screen.
She must have changed it since she got to town.
It was a picture of the ferns that grew down in the woods. Link recognized the trees in the background.

If he could just guess her password he could text her.

"Hmm..."

He looked at the curled fern again

"it's worth a shot"

he pressed 011235 on the keypad. It worked.

"Oh sun, you gigantic nerd"

he smiled to himself.
Looking through her contacts he found himself. She had put a little plant emoji beside his name. He knew that to her that was high praise.
He sent a quick text, explaining that he didn't want to wake her up and what had happened with the phones.

"My bad, sorry"

he also sent his passcode which she would be able to see in the text preview without having to open it.

He turned onto his side and closed his eyes, In a better mood than he would have thought was possible. Even the threat of the business men seemed less worrying than it did before.

Zelda stretched as she slowly woke up. Her back was sore from sleeping in an unusual position.
She groaned.

"Oh mighty bananas, what happened last night?!"

She questioned, remembering link had been there.
She didn't remember putting the pillow under her head or covering herself with the blanket.

"He must've done that after I fell asleep- ah! I fell asleep in front of him, that's so embarrassing!"

She moaned

''i wonder when he left, was it last night or this morning..."

Her temperature rose as she imagined them sleeping a few feet away from each other. She looked around for her phone and was surprised to see a different one. She grabbed it and saw she had a few texts... from herself, one telling her the password to the phone.
She typed it in and looked at the messages again.

"Hey, it's Link, I grabbed your phone when I was leaving and left mine at your house"

"also sorry for leaving last night without saying anything"

"so he did leave last night and not this morning."

Zelda didn't know if she was relieved or disappointed but she kept reading

"I didn't want to wake you up, my bad, sorry. Just let me know when you can switch the phones back"

Zelda suddenly wondered how he had unlocked her phone.

"Keese! I don't want him poking around on there, there's stuff I don't want him to see"

she shot him a quick text.

"I can come down in an hour, is that ok?"

He replied that it was. She hesitated before sending the next text.

"He's my best friend, he'll respect it"

"can you do me a favor?" She wrote

"What?" He replied quickly

"Don't go snooping on my stuff"

"oooooh"

"Link please,"
