'What will fate do in my life. First the nightmare and now I'm taking an exam I didn't even know that existed. Oh well what could go wrong? My life is already crap. How much crappier can it get?' I thought.--------------->>>>><<<<<---------------
"Guys the captain told me we have to go that mountain over there." Gon pointed to a mountain with a huge pine tree on the top."What? Nope. I'm taking the bus what if it's a trap?" Leorio shouted.
Can he get a little more louder? I think my hearing aids haven't arrived.
"Well whatever I'm going with Gon." I said following him.
After Kurapika finished his talk with Leorio he followed. Moments later Leorio was running. Trying to catch us.
I guess the tables have been turned.
Time skip
We arrived at a small village. I took in the surroundings it was so peaceful. Everything seemed eerily right. But something didn't quite click. Something was off.
"There's not a single soul in here." Leorio said
"No, inside the buildings there's people. You can hear them breathing." Kurapika said
"And the rustling of clothes." Gon added
"Well sue me for having normal hearing." Leorio shouted.
So loud...
"Shh." I silenced him.
Suddenly an old woman appeared with a group of people following behind. They all had masks except her.
"Time for the mind-boggling two-choice quiz!!" The old woman screamed. Leorio and Kurapika sweat-dropped.
Then a man came and decided he was better than us. Ending in him doing the quiz before us.
When our turn comes I'm just going to let them answer since I'm not good at making decisions. Let's see what type of questions the woman will ask us.
First she asked the man a messed up question
"Rogues have taken your mother and your true love captive, you may only save one. 1. Your mother, 2. Your true love, Which do you save?"
That's just messed up. Who in their sane mind would ask that? But what if that happens? What would we choose...? In the desert of uncertainty what will I do? Not with my mother. That woman is only a figure that takes the place of being my bearer but nothing more. She wasn't a real mother nonetheless.
The man chose 1 and she let him go. Giving the sad explanation that there will never be anyone that can replace your mother.
Pfft. I wish I could replace mine with a person that actually cared about me.
Leorio snapped. He needs to learn to control his emotions. He has no self control. That will be his downfall someday.
She asked if we were going to take the exam and Kurapika nodded.
Our question was even worse in my opinion.
"Your daughter and son have been kidnapped. You can only take one back? Which one will you get back 1. Your daughter, 2. Your son?"
When she finished I felt like my soul was being grasped by the darkness. I felt like I was being pulled into the void. The cold fingertips of unconsciousness grazing me. The darkness was slowly consuming me. But a flicker of reality flashed just as I was about to drown inside the darkness.
When I opened my eyes Leorio, Gon and Kurapika were looking at me curiously.
"What? Wait... The quiz... did we pass?!"
"Yeah the answer was silence." Kurapika said putting his finger over his lips in a silencing motion.
We entered a door that led straight to the tree.
I kind of get this quiz, it was trying to show us a cruel scenario that could become reality. Trying to make us catch a glimpse of what might wait for us in the future.
Watching as the three walked ahead of me I was trying to understand why I keep getting this weird vibe like something bad will happen...
And this was my first mistake. I just shrugged it off.
I smiled as I walked faster trying to catch them.
At least this feels more real than the life I had back at that house. I hope everything can stay like this.
