"Hey," she said when she approached Jennie.
"Hi" Jennie replied, both of them avoiding eye contact and trying to look as disinterested and as annoyed about this whole set-up as possible.
"Did I keep you waiting?" Rosé asked.
"Eh, Jisoo and Irene kept me entertained." Jennie said nonchalantly
"They're your friends?" Rosé asked as she began to take a few books out of her bag.
There was something about the way she asked the question that made Jennie suddenly feel overly defensive.
"Yea, for the longest time. They're quite close to me." Jennie replied.
"That's good. They're nice people" Rosé said.
"What's that supposed to mean?" Jennie asked.
"Nothing. Just. They're nice people." Rosé said.
Jennie was not liking how this was going. Rosé wondered if she said something wrong.
"Listen, we don't need to do this, the small talk. Let's just get down to the work" Jennie said.
And Rosé looked visibly annoyed.
They went over the requirements for the project, discussed the study material, and noted down a plan of action.
Rosé made notes very religiously, they set timelines for themselves to follow. They'd chosen to do separate parts and tie it all together once they were done. That was the only way they could have the least amount of interaction in this whole thing, and they really wanted nothing to do with each other after that.
Later that evening, when Jennie was lazing in bed watching some random show she picked out on Netflix, she received a text.
"I think you left your wallet on the bleachers before you rushed away when we got done. It's with me, I'll hand it over to you tomorrow" Rosé's text said.
"Shit. Okay thanks." Jennie replied to her.
"Is there anything you need from it urgently?" Rosé replied.
Jennie thought for a while and then replied, "Not really, it's just my cards in there."
"Okay" came Rosé's reply. And they left it at that.
"Well, how was your study date with Ms Leather Weather?" came Jisoo's text.
"It was fine" Jennie replied to Jisoo.
"Oh come on, give me some more details." Jisoo texted.
"It was really nothing Chu, she was being the usual asshole that she is," Jennie replied.
"What did she do now?" Jisoo asked.
"I don't know, I think she implied that it's odd that you guys are my friends cause you'll are nicer than me"
"Ooooo. She implied it? You're not sure? For all you know maybe that's not what she meant at all."
"How does it matter, I just don't like her, Chu," Jennie said.
"Okay. But what about her physique, I mean did you at least see what we were talking about?" Jisoo asked.
"Okay yea, I get it, she's hot and all, but what's the use of great looks if you're not a good person."
"You gotta stop judging her on the little that you know, Jennie."
"Whatever. I've got to head downstairs for dinner. Text you later."
Just then Jisoo called her instead of replying.
"One more thing before you go, Lisa invited me to come over to her place, to watch a movie or something, she doesn't mind if I want to bring some of my friends over too. Irene and Seulgi will be there. You should come too, after dinner maybe?"
