Rosé stared at her phone. She had the chat open for a while now, wondering if she had any right to ask Jennie "with whom?" to her message about being at the movies.
But the more she thought about it, the more it upset her. Why did she care whom Jennie was at the movies with? Why did she want to know? It's really none of her business.
Except, she knew Jennie was probably with that guy from school, 'Kai' she overheard Jisoo say once. Rosé had noticed him around now and then, he was always hovering too close to her, always looking at her like she was his prize, always trying to get her attention. Rosé had a feeling he was probably her boyfriend. And that just left her feeling an odd unease in her tummy.
The last few days, she'd been thinking so much about Jennie, she would be running around the track and she'd spot Jennie sitting on the bleachers reading her book, or sometimes just chilling there with Jisoo, Irene, Seulgi, and Kai. And Rosé being Rosé, just wanted to understand why Jennie was the way she was. Why was she always in such a crappy mood, was it just with her, or is that who she generally is. Jisoo did say that Jennie was a beautiful human being and friend, so why couldn't Rosé see it then.
Rosé also often thought about how Irene and Seulgi had found each other, how their tattoos were the same. And it made Rosé wonder, where was Jennie's tattoo, and did Kai have the same one as her?
But there was also the other thing, about how soulmates would look perfect together, that they would have a natural ease around each other. Seulgi and Irene had that, but she could see an all but obvious lack of sync between Kai and Jennie, and a part of her hoped that maybe they weren't soulmates, just lovers for the time being.
An hour later, Rosé was having dinner when her phone beeped with Jennie's address.
"Thanks. See you at 7 tomorrow" Rosé replied quickly.
"Yes. Don't forget your part of the work" Jennie said.
"Why will I forget the main reason why I'm coming over?:I"
Jennie had to admit, it was dumb.
"You know what I mean. Wait, 'main reason'?" Jennie asked.
It took Rosé longer to reply this time. But a reply came none the less.
"*only reason," it said.
Jennie shook her head and laughed.
There was a knock on her door.
"Kai, I gotta go. I really can't do this right now. I have school work to finish with a classmate" Jennie said on her phone.
Kai was still yelling on the other side, and Jennie just wanted to be done with this call. Ever since she told him she wanted out of this relationship, it was over for her, he's been calling incessantly.
"Yea, we'll talk about this later okay, Kai! But I mean what I said. I can't do this anymore. It really is over for me. And I really have to go now."
"Fine." She ended the call.
When Jennie pulled the door open. Rosé was standing there, dressed in her joggers, a t-shirt, and her bag slung over her shoulder.
"Hi," Jennie said "come in"
Rosé had overheard a little of the conversation while Jennie was making her way to the door, she felt the need to ask
"Trouble in paradise?"
It caught Jennie by surprise. Was Rosé asking about her relationship with Kai?
"uhh, yea. But I don't want to talk about it... with you."
