"Nayeon, hey... it's me, listen, uh... can we talk? I uhh.. there's something I need to say to you... if you're free to meet up that is... today? I don't know... sometime this evening maybe?" Jennie said as a voice message when Nayeon didn't pick up. "yea, so let me know"

A few hours later came Nayeon's reply.

"yea sure, come over this evening."

Jennie took a deep breath, Nayeon was a smart woman. She could probably tell something was off already.

"I feel like a total ass," Jennie said

"You are an ass" came Nayeon's quick retort.

Jennie kept her mouth shut. There was silence between them. She had just come clean to Nayeon. Told her how she believed they loved one another, but it didn't feel right, it didn't feel enough, she wasn't over a past relationship, and she doesn't wanna lead Nayeon any further into something her heart's not entirely into.

"I'm sorry" Jennie tried.

"Please leave, Jennie," Nayeon said.

Jennie took a deep breath. She stood up from the couch, where she was seated next to Nayeon.

"For what it's worth Nayeon, you're a wonderful person. I feel horrible that I hurt you, and I hope we can be friends sometime, in the future... I was being unfair to you, staying in this, and thinking about someone else..."

"how long?" Nayeon asked.

"huh?" Jennie asked.

"How long had you been thinking about her while you were with me?"

"Nayeon..."

"Please be honest with me, Jennie"

Jennie took another breath. "I thought I was over her."

"That doesn't answer my question," Nayeon said.

Jennie stayed silent. The silence felt long and uncomfortable, and Jennie watched as Nayeon dropped her face into her palms and cried. Jennie wanted to do something, anything to comfort her. Hell! She'd been so good to her, Nayeon loved her so sincerely, and here she was, breaking her.

"Please let yourself out, Jennie," Nayeon said between sobs. and Jennie's heart broke a little.

she hesitated but then took a few steps towards the door

"I'm so sorry Nayeon, I never meant to hurt you so bad," Jennie said, watching longingly at the woman she thought she loved, and then walked out, closing the door behind her.

That night Jennie reached home and cried. She hated how she had let herself lead someone that way. She hated herself for being THAT person. to have played with a genuine heart. She hated that she was still so in love with Rosé when they could never have the life she wants for them.

By every rule in the book, Rosé was not her soulmate. Their tattoos screamed incompatibility. Then why couldn't she get the girl off her mind?

Jennie slept that night torn about her feelings, hatred towards herself for playing Nayeon, albeit unintentionally, and hopelessness that she could not have the woman of her dreams.

The next day, Jennie texted Jisoo.

"Hi, what are you up to?"

"Jennie! I'm glad you texted, listen, Lisa's birthday's coming up this weekend, and I thought it would be a nice opportunity for all of us to head out of the city, rent out a place with a pool or something and just sit back and relax..."

"oh.. yea, that sounds cool... count me in" Jennie replied.

"Great, let me know if Nayeon will be joining, Lisa will make the booking accordingly"
