Chapter 42

I woke up with a dull ache in my head before sitting up. I was in a hospital bed dressed in a nightgown, with an IV needle in my arm.

"Ah! I see you have woken up", A doctor smiled.

"What happened?", I groaned as I held my head.

"You fainted", The doctor said as she sat down.

I nodded as I rubbed my temples.

"I'm going to ask you a few questions and then we are going to run a few tests, alright?"

"Ok"

"Have you been nauseous or feeling as if you can't keep certain foods down?"

"Yes, it's been a week of that"

"Have you been urinating a lot more than usual?"

"I've been drinking a lot of liquids but yes", I nodded as I thought back.

"Uh huh...are you feeling any tenderness or swelling on your breasts?"

"Yes... uhm, where exactly are you getting at?", I asked as I eyed the doctor.

"I'm going to have you pee in a cup...do you feel like you have to go?"

All of a sudden I felt my bladder ache.

"Now that you said something, I do", I sighed.

I grabbed the cup from the doctor and walked into the bathroom. I did my business in the cup and washed my hands.

"I don't know why you need this for...but here", I said as I handed her the cup.

"I'll be back in five minutes"

I nodded. I looked around the room and saw that there was a small TV.

I began looking for the remote and turned it on. I flickered through channels full of boredom until the doctor came back.

"Congratulations!", She smiled.

"Uh...what? What exactly am I being congratulated for?", I asked.

"You are pregnant", She grinned.

"W-what? How?- I mean I know how but-", I felt tears pricking my eyes.

"There are options for it you don't-"

"No, I want to keep it. It's just that we were careful... were we?", I asked timidly.

I began to ball my eyes out. I was pregnant, having Izuku's baby and he was in a coma.

He was so excited to have a baby and now I was having one. However, I wouldn't be able to see his face when I tell him the news.

I wouldn't be able to experience everything with him if he didn't wake up. I wanted him to wake up, I didn't want to go through this pregnancy alone.

"It seems that you are two weeks into your pregnancy", She said as she read off her clipboard.

I nodded as I climbed out of the bed and got dressed. I sniffled as I put my clothes on, tears threatening to fall from my eyes once more before I wiped them away.

"Thank you for telling me", I smiled.

The doctor nodded before walking out of the room and closing the door. I ran my hands down my stomach and gave a small smile.

"You are going to be so loved, my baby Bean", I said softly before walking out of the room.

I walked towards Izuku's room slowly, silently hoping that he would be awake. However, when I walked inside he wasn't.

I sat down on the chair by his bed and held his hand. I felt nervous telling him since he wouldn't be able to react.

"Hey, Baby it's me...I have something to tell you", I said softly as I moved to sit on his bed.

I placed his hand in my lap before holding it.

"...It's something big...something that will change our lives forever...", I sniffled as I gave his hand a squeeze.

I placed his hand on my stomach as tears fell from my eyes.

"There's a little someone in here... I'm pregnant...", I smiled through my tears.

I looked at his face for any signs that he was waking up only to see no reaction.

"Our baby Bean... We are going to have a family, Izu", I sobbed.

I pressed his hand into my stomach as I cried.

"Please wake up... Wake up for me... For our baby", I wailed as I stroked his cheek with my thumb.

Suddenly tears fell from his eyes, however his eyes were closed.

"Izuku?", I whispered as I wiped his tears.

I sniffled and called the doctor through the remote.

"He started crying, there were tears falling from his eyes", I say as I moved out of their way as they came in.

The doctors ran a few tests as I paced back and forth. Muttering among themselves.

"Does this mean he'll wake up?", I asked as they looked him over.

"Sadly, no. It's rare for a patient to cry or even move their eyes while in a coma, but it's possible. It's him expressing his emotions while not conscious. It could be a positive sign or a negative sign, depending on what he is crying about", The doctor explained to me.

"O-oh", I whispered.

"Just keep talking to him...but it is still unknown of when he will wake up"

I nodded as the doctor walked out of the room.

"Thank you", I say.

"Call us if you have any concerns"

With that it became silent, except for the heart monitor. I walked over to the bed and held his hand.

"I know you're happy...the few tears revealed it", I smiled as I crawled to his side.

"I want to experience it with you...I want you to wake up so we can experience this together", I sniffled.

I placed his hand on my stomach as I laid down on his side. I played with his fingers before turning over, holding his hand close before falling asleep.

A few hours later, I was sitting by his side deep in thought as I held his hand.

"Y/n?", I heard a soft voice say my name.

I looked up to see Miss Inko and Mr. Toshinori come in with bags.

"Hello", I say dryly.

"Oh, Love", Miss Inko pulled me into a hug.

"Has there been any signs of him waking up?"

"No, but he did have tears rolling down his face. The doctors said that it was him expressing his emotions while not conscious", I explained with a sigh.

"Why was he crying?"

"I told him some news", I say softly.

"What kind of news, Love?"

"I'm pregnant...", I say as I cast my eyes down.

"Oh dear", Miss Inko said as she gave me a squeeze.

"I-I'm happy, b-but what if he never wakes up? What if I have to go through all of this alone? I want to be able to experience this with him, this is our first baby", I choked.

"You won't be alone, Toshinori and I will help you. I know it's not the same as Izuku helping you through this, but you will not carry my grandbaby by yourself", Miss Inko said.

"He'll wake up... no matter how long it takes.. He will", Mr. Toshinori said as he looked over to his son.

"And he'll be the happiest when he finds out that he's a dad", Miss Inko gave my hands a soft squeeze.

"I'm so grateful for you guys", I sobbed.
