Tomoko released the trigger of her gear, leaving her to fall into the alley beneath her. The shot was heard, hitting the soldier that had snuck up on her. She dove into a window as she fell, dust flew into the air as she roughly landed in the dimly lit room. A man sat at a rugged looking chair, surprised at his sudden visitor. Tomoko nodded at the man and saying nothing, she ran further into the building.
Tomoko noticed an old closet was sat up against the wall, and quickly decided to hide inside. She crouched in the tight, dirty closet and kept her breath still, hoping the group hadn't seen the building she entered. Her hope faded as she heard heavy footsteps approach the closet she sat in. The footsteps stopped finally in front of the closet door.
"Tomoko," the voice spoke.
"Caven," Tomoko responded.
"So you do remember me, hm." Caven said stoically.
"Of course, we worked together a lot in the MPs, we had a couple drinks together every once in a while, with the group of course." Tomoko recalled.
"So, why don't you step out of your little hiding spot and cooperate." Caven started, "what do you say Toko?" Tomoko's eyes widened. In the squad she was apart of, in the MPs, they all called her Toko. She hadn't heard the nickname in years."It's much appreciated." Caven smirked as Tomoko stepped out of her hiding spot with her hands up.
"Don't worry, I don't intend on killing you, we need you as bait for Levi."
"Aren't you here for Eren and Historia, what the hell does Levi have to do with them." Tomoko questioned.
"You'll see. Oh and I must say, I'm surprised to see you have such a close relationship with your captain, considering you're married."
"So that's why I'm the bait. Well, Axel died." Tomoko explained.
"Huh, I see."Caven had tied Tomoko's hands behind her back, bringing her across the rooftops where her comrades stood on guard.
"Caven, are you sure she won't break free, she works as a captain beside Levi." One of her squad mates spoke. Caven said nothing and continued walking. As she reached the end of the rooftop, Tomoko noticed the focus of the soldiers was elsewhere. She used this to her advantage and attempted to break free. All it took as an elbow to the ribs for her to buckle and fall to the ground.
"I can manage her. I could tell from her mannerisms she was injured." Caven informed her comrade.Tomoko writhed in pain as every time she attempted to break loose was shot down with a hit to her torso. She coughed heavily before caven spoke up.
"I know you want to help your friends but getting kicked over and over again won't help."
"This is just a moment of..weakness..we both know if..I wasn't injured I'd kick your ass." Tomoko spoke, coughing between words.
"That may be true, but that doesn't change your current circumstances." Caven said, her glare stuck on Tomoko. Her glance quickly moved upwards at the sound of ODM gear. Tomoko's hope peaked but then fell as she realized who it was.
"Captain." Caven spoke softly, the man landing beside her.
"What do we have here?" The rugged voice spoke, Tomoko recognized him as the man who killed Nifa.
"Well, Levi's doing quite well for himself, what a pretty little thing." He smirked, lifting Tomoko up by her hair. She grunted at the pain, but stared back at the man.
"If I wasn't in such an awful state, I'd shove my sword so far up your ass it'd come out the other side." Tomoko snarled, her blackened eye trying its best to keep up the glare she held.
"Feisty too." He chuckled. "Well, you'll be quite good bait then."It wasn't long before the 'bait' worked. Levi had been looking for Tomoko, expecting to meet up with her after they had lost Eren and Historia, but after a while he went searching for her with Mikasa.
"Tomoko!" Levi yelled down to her, landing right beside her, not hearing Kenny and Caven in the building below them. Tomoko struggled to speak, her pale skin had been bruised and scraped, her hair tattered and messy.
"Kenny... set you up. Just go." Tomoko coughed, glancing up at the two. She could hardly have gotten the sentence out before Kenny and Caven took action. Levi didn't hesitate to pick Tomoko up and run, Mikasa following.
"Let's get you back to the others." Mikasa muttered.
"Keep them distracted, I'll take Tomoko back." Levi ordered to Mikasa, who returned a quick nod. She began leading the two in another direction.Levi glanced down at the woman in his arms, her bruises had already started to fade and she began to look better already. It wasn't long before they had reached the building everyone else resided in for now. Mikasa returned shortly after, completely fine, considering what she was tasked to do on her own.
The soldiers sat around a table, conversing quietly about the battle fought today. Tomoko sat up on a bed in a separate room, assessing the damage.
"So, you gonna live?" She heard the deep and stoic voice of her colleague behind her.
"I suppose so, yes." Tomoko chuckled, ignoring the pain in her torso as she did so.
"You're wrapping your stomach wrong." Levi rolled his eyes, watching the girl attempt to wrap a corset like bandage around her waist.
"Here," he walked towards her, taking the bandage roll from her and fixing the wrap. Tomoko stared at him as he did so, wondering why his movements were so gentle.
"You should be more careful, it's not a great look to have to rescue you all the time." Levi sighed, tying the bandage.
"I realize, I'm a klutz and reckless yada yada." Tomoko laughed.
"I'm being serious, I don't want to see you seriously hurt." Levi stared right into her emerald eyes, holding her gaze. She quickly looked away, blush tinting her pale face.
"Alright alright. Thanks for the help, now go help Hange in torturing that MP asshole." She laughed once more. He got up and began leaving, looking at her once more he spoke up,
"Good night Tomoko."
"Good night Levi."
