Two days went by like this.

Two days were enough for Hinata to understand that, in the end, Sasuke's plan had turned into a success.

Congratulations, you've won the Nobel, I thought.

It had been forty-eight hours since Naruto had spoken to her, nor had they looked at each other when they bumped into the corridors of the huge mansion. Two days when Ino didn't even look her in the face, unlike Sai, who insisted on humiliating her in high school more times than he had in all of the last two years.

Sasuke Uchiha definitely looked proud of himself.

The only one who remained by his side was Sakura. The only one who helped, taught and talked to her besides Minato and her mother. No one else. Not that she minded, not that much, she was used to living in anonymity and being the Akatsuki court jester.

At that moment, sitting on a bench in front of the kitchen counter, with a large, untouched piece of pizza in her arms, Hinata thought how silly she was to imagine that she could have changed even a little.

Naruto continued to be untouchable, just like Ino and at some point or another that would inevitably happen.

His hunger was lost as he saw small drops run down and fall on the pepperoni to the point.

What the fuck were you thinking about letting them into your life? They didn't and never would, she was just the weird girl who couldn't stand to be touched by anyone, she always would be.

He buried his head in his hood.

Idiot, stupid. You will always be stupid.

He bit his lip.

He was there, watching her tears, the moment he heard the always recognizable sound of the running shoes that Naruto always wore. Quickly, she saw him enter the kitchen and open the fridge.

She took advantage of the fact that he was drinking water to dry her face with the sleeves of her sweatshirt, got up with her plate in her hand and the juice intact as well, and placed them on the sink. There was no way to throw it away, because the maid asked not to throw it yet, so there was no way out if she didn't leave it there.

She lowered her head as she returned to where she was sitting and was switching songs on her cell phone. Naruto was taking up the entire kitchen exit.

I didn't want to go through him now.

Not after two days of silence.

Amazingly, Naruto sat down right in front of him and nervously started fiddling with his bottle.

"Hina..." He took out an earpiece to show he was listening. Naruto sighed. — Are we fighting?

The same words he had made a few days ago.

He cleared his throat.

"Why would we be, Naruto?"

A long silence.

His tone was low as he replied:

"Why am I on Ino's side instead of yours?" Or do you want it because Sakura said very true words, that I don't deserve to be around you?

Hinata didn't say anything, just looking at her hand on the table. She never thought his word meant so much to her.

She swallowed the lump in her throat.

— Sakura is very hot headed sometimes, she speaks her mind. It's okay, Naruto.

"Are you really, Hina?"
