Chapter 1
It was just an ordinary first day of school. Wooyoung woke up and stared at his wall for no particular reason. After a long moment of doing nothing but playing a silent staring contest with it, he finally stood up and began his morning routine. Same as always. Repeated. The only thing that brightened his day was the thought of seeing his friends, which gave him something to look forward to.
He went down to the kitchen and found it empty. After grabbing some milk and cereal, he quickly ate, then left the house.
Yeosang
Are you ready?Wooyoung
yup ill be at the front door
see ya"Morning!" Wooyoung greeted cheerfully.
"Hey. So, are you ready? School's starting again. Ugh, just imagine all the work they're going to dump on us!" Yeosang groaned.
"Right? Like, do they really think we'll need the periodic table in the future?" Wooyoung laughed.
"Definitely. We'll totally be asking about chemicals in soda or a burger someday," Yeosang joked, laughing with him.
When they arrived at school, they spotted their group of friends—Yunho, Mingi, Changbin, Jongho, Yeonjun, and Hyunjin. Wooyoung knew he was considered one of the popular guys in school, but unlike the stereotypes, he wasn't the "bully" type. He never understood why stories portrayed popular students that way; bullying was rare at their school—at least, he hoped so.
"HELLO EVERYONE!" Wooyoung called out energetically. Heads turned in his direction; everyone knew that voice. His friends didn't even need to look to recognize him.
"Hi, Wooyoung!" "Hey, Woo!" they all greeted.
"So, is everyone ready for a new year of learning useless information?" Wooyoung joked.
"Nope," replied Jongho flatly.
"Well, I've already secured my scholarship, remember? I got accepted to XXXX Music University," Yeonjun said confidently.
"Same here. I'm on track to be an artist; I just need passing grades to get into XXXX Art University," Hyunjin added. "What about the rest of you?"
"Ah, I don't know yet. I'm a year younger, remember?" Jongho sighed.
"I'm thinking of going into modeling," Wooyoung said, smiling. "So far, the small gigs are going well, and I actually enjoy it."
"Ah, lucky you guys," Yunho grumbled. "You all know what you're going to do, while some of us have no clue. We'll just do whatever comes our way." Mingi nodded in agreement.
"Oh, yeah! I think I'm leaning toward becoming a rapper or something in that area," Changbin added. "I'm not totally sure, but I feel like I'd enjoy it."
"Well, that's no surprise—you practically rap when you talk," Yeosang teased, making everyone laugh.
They continued chatting until the bell rang. Just then, someone caught Wooyoung's attention—a guy with similar hair to his, black with blonde streaks underneath. His piercing, dragon-like eyes seemed to pull Wooyoung in. Startled, Wooyoung snapped out of it when Mingi tapped him on the shoulder.
"C'mon, the bell rang. We're gonna be late."
"Oh, right. I'm coming," Wooyoung said, popping a cherry lollipop into his mouth as he followed his friends.
