Chapter 20
Wooyoung was scheduled to meet Heeseung to discuss the latest findings regarding their case. His mind, however, was occupied with thoughts of San. Ever since their eyes had locked, Wooyoung couldn't get the older's perfect face out of his head. But to keep San safe, he had to keep his distance—no matter how much it hurt. He couldn't afford to lose another person he loved, especially not because of the greed and corruption that plagued his life. Yet, expressing his true feelings was a luxury he couldn't afford, not when so many dangerous people were watching.
"Hey, hyung," Heeseung greeted him, pulling Wooyoung from his thoughts. "I've found out more about the people involved in our case. So far, there are 13 names, but there's a chance someone bigger than Lee Dong Wook is behind all of this. I tried to hack in, but they covered their tracks perfectly. Sorry."
"No, it's fine," Wooyoung replied, giving him a small smile, though his mind was racing with the new information. "You've already done more than enough."
Heeseung's words weighed on Wooyoung. The fact that there was someone even more powerful than Lee Dong Wook involved made things even more complicated. He had to act quickly, which was why he was heading to meet an family old friend—someone he hadn't spoken to in a long time: Lee Jae Wook.
Lee Jae Wook.
24 years old.His father was a billionaire who owned hotels and bars worldwide.Took over the company two years ago.Known to frequent the exclusive Marguerite Incubo.
Wooyoung and Jae Wook's fathers had once been golf buddies, often meeting for casual dinners with their families. Because of this, Wooyoung and Jae Wook had grown somewhat close. But Wooyoung had never liked Jae Wook's flirtatious nature. He was a notorious playboy—sleeping with a different woman every night and teasing Wooyoung every chance he got. But despite their differences, Wooyoung knew that if he wanted to make his plan work, he needed Jae Wook's help.
Meanwhile, at a Bar...
San was seated at the edge of a busy bar, nursing whatever drink his eyes landed on. The place was packed with wealthy patrons—people using daddy's money, others looking to hook up. He sat in the shadows, watching the crowd, trying to ignore the growing frustration that gnawed at him. He was still waiting for Park Bogum, but his attention was suddenly drawn to someone else.
Wooyoung walked into the bar, looking as stunning as ever, dressed casually in a leather jacket and black jeans. Every time San saw him, his heart skipped a beat. His mind replayed Wooyoung's harsh words, but deep down, he knew there was more to the story. There had to be something hidden beneath the surface.
Wooyoung took a seat at the bar, ordering a drink and knocking it back in one go. San's eyes never left him. A few moments later, a man approached Wooyoung and whispered something in his ear. Wooyoung jumped and hissed at the guy, clearly not appreciating the intrusion. But the man didn't back off. Instead, they exchanged hellos and began talking. San could tell the guy was flirting, his hands getting too close to Wooyoung for comfort.
San clenched his fists, his protective instincts kicking in. He wanted to storm over, grab Wooyoung, and drag him out of there—away from this flirtatious stranger. He wanted to remind everyone who Wooyoung belonged to. But he remained frozen in place, waiting for Bogum.
That bastard better show up soon, San thought, his patience wearing thin.
At the same time, Wooyoung was having his own confrontation with Jae Wook.
"So, what brings you here, Woo?" Jae Wook asked, his voice dripping with amusement. "I'm guessing it's not casual—are you here to get away from everything... or maybe to get a piece of me?"
Wooyoung shoved him away. "No, don't get ahead of yourself. I'm here to ask you a favor."
"Oh, this is a first," Jae Wook replied, raising an eyebrow. "THE Jung Wooyoung asking anyone for a favor?"
"I need you to help me," Wooyoung said, his tone serious. "I need your help to get rid of the man who murdered my mother."
The air seemed to freeze as the two stared at each other, unspoken questions hanging in the silence. Jae Wook's expression shifted, and for a brief moment, his usual cocky demeanor faltered.
"Let's take this somewhere more private" Jae Wook said as he led Woo to a private room.
"How do I benefit from this? If it's not good I'm out. You know i made a promise to stop these kinds of work" Jae Wook reminded Wooyoung.
Wooyoung spoke up, his voice low but firm. "I know who's behind your mother's death."
Jae Wook stopped dead in his tracks, his body tense. He turned back slowly, his eyes searching Wooyoung's face. "You're bluffing," he said, though there was a hint of hope in his voice. "I've been trying to find something, anything. But there's nothing. I hired the best investigators, hackers anything but no clue. How can you find that bitch?"
"I have my ways" Wooyoung said. "But you have to agree to my terms."
"Don't play with me, Wooyoung," Jae Wook warned, his voice dropping dangerously. "I swear to God, I'll kill you if you mess with me."
Wooyoung stood his ground, unflinching. "I'm not playing. Help me, and I'll help you."
But before he could say another word, the sound of someone kicking the door open interrupted them. Wooyoung turned in shock.
"San! What the hell are you doing here?!" Wooyoung shouted, panic and anger flooding his voice.
San didn't reply and punched Jae Wook right on the face.
"What the fuck is wrong with you?!" Jae Wook yelled, wiping blood from his lip.
San glared at Jae Wook. "Don't you dare touch him." He threw another punch, but Jae Wook dodged, landing a hit across San's face.
"Wook, stop!" Wooyoung shouted, rushing between them.
"He started it!" Jae Wook yelled back.
Wooyoung grabbed San by the arm and dragged him away. "I'm so sorry," he called out to Jae Wook. "I'll call you tomorrow."
In the car, Wooyoung's temper finally exploded. Once they were safely inside, he turned on San, his voice shaking with emotion.
"WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING HERE? WHY WOULD YOU HIT WOOK?! I THOUGHT I MADE IT CLEAR I HAVE NO MORE BUSINESS WITH YOU!" Wooyoung screamed getting angrier by the second.
San didn't respond with words. Instead, in one swift motion, he leaned in and kissed Wooyoung softly. For a moment, everything else faded away. Wooyoung's heart raced, his body stiffening in surprise. But then, he pulled away, his voice trembling.
"But your heart says otherwise." San's voice was quiet but full of emotion. "Wooyoung, you can't keep bottling this up. Let me in. Let me help you. I love you, and I'm afraid of losing you."
"It's okay to tell someone your problems," San whispered, his voice low and soothing. "It's okay to not be okay. It's okay to depend on someone. Let me be that someone for you."
"You're allowed to be weak... at least with me," San added, his arms pulling Wooyoung into a tight embrace.
And that was it. Wooyoung broke down completely, the tears he'd been holding back for so long flooding out. In San's arms, he didn't have to hide. No one was watching. No one was judging him.
For the first time in a long time, Wooyoung let himself cry.
