Chapter 7
I woke up yawning loudly from my nap. I got up and looked outside my window to see the pastures of trees and slight mountain areas but mainly cattle filling the fields. See my parents aren’t what other kids might call ‘loaded’. But they have money; they built our house on a dream. I brushed my hair and went outside only to find Hugh walking Ace back into the barn.
“Hey, what’s up?” I asked a little concerned.
“Oh, nothing kid. Ace just had a stomach ache and also his eyes are red and puffy.”
“Oh, my poor boy,” I walked over to Ace and started to pet him softly.
“Well why don’t you go put him in the stable and groom him out?”
“Ok,” I said cheerfully while walking him to the barn. We got there and I started to groom my poor baby. Once done I gave him a bunch of carrots and then I started to walk to the house. On my way there a bee flew dangerously close to my face which as we all know makes us jump back. I ended up jumping back into a brick wall, or also known as Zane’s chest.
“Hey,” Zane said while wrapping his arms around me, “What’s wrong, you afraid of bees?”
“Yea, something like that,” I said keeping my eyes on the bee that was still there.
“Well, I was thinking about asking your dad if I can go swim. Care to join me?” Zane asked turning me to face him.
“Sure, I’ll go ask him.” I said while unwrapping his arms and walking towards the house.
“Hey dad, can Zane and I go swim?” I said with puppy dog eyes.
“Sure and stop with the crocodile tears.” He said with a slight smirk.
“Jerk,” I muttered while sticking my tongue at him he just chuckled.
I walked outside to see Zane standing there looking around, “Hey my dad said it was fine.”
He smiled softly and said, “Ok, you go get a swimsuit on and I will be waiting here.”
“Ok,” I said while walking back into the house and getting changed into my bikini along with a tank top. I walked back out of the house only to find Zane standing there smiling.
“What’s your problem? And also eyes up here.” I said taking his eyes from scanning me back to my face.
“What? Sorry never seen you in a bikini.” He said smirking.
“Welp, I’m gonna go get changed.” I said while turning around to go back but Zane grabbed my wrist and pulled me back.
“I never said you had to go get changed, in fact I forbid you to.” He said with the biggest smirk I have ever seen him have.
“Wow, ok fine let’s go… Dad,” I said cheerfully.
“Wow, if I’m your dad, than I’m an inappropriate father and should be put in prison; because I have kissed you countless times.” He said with a smaller smirk.
“Wow, your mind is in your rump.”
“Ok, let’s just go swim.” Zane said as we got near to the pond.
“Ok, and you didn’t deny about your head in your dairy-air.” I said smiling as we walked to the pond, our hands locked together swaying. We got about two feet from the pond and then I felt my hand being let go and myself being put over his shoulder.
“Zane, if you do that again you will not get another kiss.” I said semi-seriously.
Zane put me down and looked down into my eyes, and then he leaned in and softly kissed me. I blushed again, but we didn’t break until I heard a buzzing sound right by my ear. I jumped back and landed hard on the ground.
“Hey, are you alright?” Zane said helping me up.
“Yea, something was in my ear.” I said groaning while getting up.
“Oh ok, well I’m gonna swim.” He said as he slide into the water.
“Ok, I’m gonna just sit here for awhile and get the sting out of my rump.” I said while sitting down.
“Oh, hey Zane can you put some sunscreen on me? I don’t wanna fry like last time.” I said while smiling.
“Ok, yea we don’t want you to look like a lobster.” He said while getting out and drying his hands off. He squirted some sunscreen on his hands and started to rub it into my back. After he was done he went back to swimming. I rested my head on my hands and then I fell asleep. I woke up the find Zane putting more sunscreen on me.
“Zane, what are you doing?” I said sleepily.
“Oh, I didn’t know you were asleep. You said you didn’t wanna fry so I was helping you not fry.” He replied like it was nothing.
“Ok, whatever” I said while resting my head back on my heads. I heard him get back up and go somewhere. Just then I felt a pinprick on my bare back and I turned my head to see a bee sitting there his stinger in me.
I gasped and slurred, “Zane.” I could feel my tongue swelling up and my body going stiff.
“Oh my goodness, Oakley” I head Zane yell as I felt myself being lifted. I could barely breathe and I knew that I could very well die right now. It felt like he was running but I couldn’t feel my body so I wasn’t sure. By the time we got to the house I couldn’t breathe at all and I’m pretty sure I was blue.
“OH my goodness! Zane what happened?! Zane she is deathly allergic to bees! Did she get stung?!” I heard my mother said panicked. I was put in the car and we started on our way. I guess I was laying on Zane because I barely felt his soft hands running through my hair.
