Chapter 8
I woke up lying in a hospital bed Zane sitting on my right side and my parents in the corner asleep.
“Hey, Zane… what happened?” I said softly while brushing my hand through his hair.
“Oakley. Ohmygoodness you’re alive.” He said putting his hands on his face.
“Zane, are you ok?” I said seeing his eyes red and puffy from the looks of crying.
“I… I… I thought you were dead…” He said finally breaking down into tears.
“Oh, Zane” I said softly, “Shh shh calm down calm down.” I ran my fingers through his hair.
He grabbed my hand and put it too his cheek, “Don’t ever do that to me again.”
“I will try not to, but I guess bees love the way I smell.” I said smiling.
He looked up at me and his eyes looked a little hurt, “You can joke about you almost dying?”
“If I don’t I will start crying and start being depressed.” I said softly pulling my hand from his cheek and resting his head on my bed, I started to run my hand through his soft hair.
“Is it a bad time?” I heard someone say as I turned towards the door and found Amanda and Tucker standing there.
“Oh, no I was just talking to Zane.” I said turning towards Zane who was now sitting upright and had cold harsh eyes towards Tucker.
“Whatever, Oakley what happened? Are you ok?” Tucker said as he rushed over to my side and wrapped me in a hug.
“I’m fine, and I was just stung by a bee.” I said waving my hand dismissingly.
“Just stung by a bee?!? Oakley you are DEATHLY allergic to them, you could have DIED!” Tucker almost yelled.
“SHhh! My parents are asleep. I don’t wanna wake them up.” I whisper yelled. Zane snickered while Tucker gave him a mean scowl.
“So Tucker, what on EARTH are you doing back? Aren’t you supposed to be in collage?” I asked curiously.
“I couldn’t find out that my best friend is dying and NOT come back.” Tucker said in a ‘duh’ tone of voice.
I smiled then a nurse came inside and told everyone except family and house residents to leave, Amanda tried to explain that she was partly in my house so she could stay. The nurse didn’t agree with her thou and kicked her out too.
Zane rested his head on the bed again and stared up at me, “Even thou you just had a horrible thing happen to you, you still look beautiful.” He said smiling while I blushed. He got up and walked around the room then he sat on my bed.
