Horse Whisperer (Hiatus)

Chapter 13

I could hear the shower running and Lauren's singing as I closed the dorm door. I pulled out clean pajamas and sat on the chair to my desk and turned on my laptop. What my aunt told me was bothering me. So Marcus has had a heart condition since birth? I shook my head trying to push the thought to the back of my head and started to work on my research paper for literature.

I didn't hear the shower turn off or the door to the bathroom opening until Lauren said my name. I looked over at her and she motioned towards the bathroom with a nod.

"I'm surprised you didn't hear me say it's all yours as I walked out." she said sitting down on her bed, squeezing the excess water out of her hair.

"I was so into my paper that I blocked out everything around me. Plus I've also got something on my mind."

"Do you want to talk about it?" She asked and I nodded.

"I'll tell you after I finish showering." She gave a quiet okay, before turning on the TV and instantly going to the Food Network channel. 

I closed the bathroom door and turned on the water, and undressed quickly before jumping in. The hot water ran over my skin as I stood there thinking about the events at dinner. I had just told people who I had just met about what happened in my previous life. So how am I okay with the feeling that I can trust them? Wouldn't one of them betray me and tell everyone in school? 

I shook my head and washed quickly before turning the water off. I reached out and grabbed my turquoise towel and wrapped it around my body. I dried my body and pulled on my Cookie Monster pajamas before wrapping the towel around my hair. I brushed my teeth and washed my face before turning off the light and walking out. Lauren had her eyes glued to the TV as a lady explained how to make this dessert thing. 

"Come sit on my bed." she said turning off the TV and looking over at me. She sat criss-crossed and I walked over to her bed and sat in front of her.

"What is it that you wanted to talk about?" I let out a sigh and started to pick at the nail polish on my fingernails.

"When the doctor told me about Marcus' heart condition I was sad and shocked. But when I told my aunt on the phone about it she said something that bothers me." I glanced up and she waited for me to continue.

"She said that the hole in his heart didn't close up all the way when he was born so he had surgery to close it. They warned her about the possibilities of him having problems when he was older. Why wouldn't she have told me that or even my mother that Marcus may have heart problems?" 

"Maybe they didn't want you to worry so much about him. Even though he has always seemed like a younger brother to you, they didn't want you to be stubborn about everything he does in worries of it affecting or triggering something." she placed her hand on mine and I looked up at her.

"Not telling you could possibly have been the best thing in hopes for both of you living peaceful lives until the time did or didn't come." I smiled and nodded at her words. She was right, I would have protected Marcus and prevented him from doing things but it would have been for my sake and not his.

"Thanks Lauren." I leaned forward, hugging her and then stood up. 

"It's no problem Luna. We'll always help each other out when needed right?" 

"Right," we smiled at each other and I walked over to my bed pulling the covers up and sliding in. "I don't know about you, but I need my sleep."  Lauren giggled and flipped the light switch, darkness filling the room.

"More like beauty sleep for Luke." I threw a small pillow at her as she laughed. 

"Good night Lauren,"

"Good night Luna," she said as her laughed ceased.

LONG TIME NO SEE READERS! SO SO SO SO SORRY for not being active for forever. I got caught up on my other account and forgot my password to this one. BUT HOPEFULLY I CAN UPDATE MORE FOR YOU GUYS AND FINALLY FINISH THIS STORY.

I'm sorry that I haven't been on sooner. I feel so bad for keeping you waiting like this. HOWEVER, I will try my best to not keep you waiting for years and years. I forgot so much about this story so I'm going to have to read it to get the story flowing again. I believe though this chapter has right information, if not please leave a message/comment letting me know whether I need to change the names. 

I'm also sorry this chapter is a short and boring one but it's both a filler and one to help me get back into this story.

Once again I'm sorry I haven't been on here in forever but hopefully I'm back and will finish this for you. But right now I'm busy studying for EOCTs (End of Course Tests) which is only two and an AP test which I will take in May. But I'll do my best when I have downtime and ideas for the next chapter.
