"Yeah." I said coming back into my room closing the doors to the balcony behind me. "It's time for dinner." Marcus said through the door. "I heard him walk away and go down the stairs. I proceeded down to the dining room and saw two people that I haven't seen or met before. One was a middle aged man about in his late twenties, early thirties. He had short blond hair and blue eyes. The other was a lady in her late 30's, early 40's. She had her black and gray hair up in a tight bun. I looked at Sam and Sally then took my seat.
"Luna. I would like you to meet the headmistress and the riding instructor from Catesforde." Sally said holding her hand towards them. I gave them a small smile and then looked back at Sally. "I asked them here to talk to you about the school, and the students that attend." Sally said. "You can ask any question." the man said. "I'm Mr. Richards. The rider instructor for all classes." Mr. Richards added. "What do you mean by classes?" I asked a little bit confused. Since I haven't been riding with actual instructors or in a group I'm a bit rusty. "Well, there are three classes. Or levels, if that's how you want to look at it. There's the Beginning Class, Intermediate Class, and the Advanced Class." he said pointing to the table with each class.
"So its like, Novice, Elementary, Medium and Advanced? But Elementary and Medium are together or is it Novice and Elementary?" I asked getting into the conversation better. "Yes, and its Novice and Elementary." Mr. Richards said quickly after. "Do you do just riding or do you do book work? I have always done book work and it helps me understand something. Like what I am doing wrong." I saw that he had a confused face or was it a deep-thinking face? "Well, I don't do book work. But that seems like a good idea. We have books but which book helps the most?" "The Complete Horse Riding Manual. It helps allot." I said without hesitating. Mr. Richards nodded and then looked at the headmistress.
"I'm Headmistress Stice. I have very strict rules at the school. I'll tell you one major rule. No boys are allowed in the girl dorms. If I find out that there was a boy in a girls dorm then I expel both the girls in the room and the boy. Let that be a warning." she said pausing after every sentence. I gave an understanding nod, since I didn't know what to say to her. She is scary looking. I think that it will be awhile until I am able to talk to her without being scared.
We went through with the rest of dinner and we were all standing at the front door. "I have question Ms. Luna. Do you have your own horse?" Mr. Richards asked. "Yes. I have many horses. But I know which one to bring. Thanks for asking." I said trying my best to get them to like the first impression of me. "On the first day of school there will be riding tests going on to determine which class you will be in. I will explain to the other kids what we are doing using their terms. For you I will use precise terms for you. Now your titles will not be used in the class. The test will determine how you ride." I nodded and he headed out the door. "I will see you in two weeks." Mr. Richards said walking towards his car.
"Read through the handbook. Make sure you understand all the rules. Have a nice two weeks of summer. I'll be planning on seeing you. Goodbye." Headmistress Stice said before exiting out the door. Sally closed the door and looked at me. "What do you think?" "I don't know." was all I said before rushing up the stairs and into my room. I showered and then sat on be bed. I put my laptop on my lap and started to read the handbook. All I remember is getting halfway through the book before darkness washed over me.
I woke up to the smell of pancakes and bacon. I got up and ran downstairs. I saw Sally sitting at the table drinking coffee and Sam in the kitchen cooking. I had to take a double take at Sam, because I thought I was seeing wrong. Sally laughed at me and I went to sit across from her. "What got up Sam's but this morning? He's cooking." I said dramatically. "I don't know. I got up and I thought you were cooking breakfast." Sally said and I giggled. "Did you read the handbook?" Sam said bringing glasses of orange juice to the table. "I got halfway through. I'm still thinking about the riding part of it though." I said grabbing one of the big glasses.
"We'll go with what you want to do. We won't force you, but I think that you need to go to at least one competition and see what you've been missing." Sally said taking a sip of coffee. "I know. But I'm not sure." I said and looked to the right at a very sleepy looking Marcus. "Are you going to ride at your new school?" he asked. "I want you to. You'll have fun." he added grabbing a glass of orange juice. i sighed a long sigh. "You know what? I'll do it. I'll ride." I said smiling at Marcus. I do a lot of things because of Marcus. He's like a brother, I didn't have. One that I will never have. Sam came to the table with two plates full of bacon and pancakes. "Bon appetite." he said with a bad french accent. After he sat down we all dug into the food. After we all were finished there was no food left.
