Becoming the Alpha means you must not only have the physical skills but the mental skills as well.

Lykina would teach her boy leader tactics by giving him scenarios on how to portray leadership.

"Lucian, come sit with me. Now, today you will learn the basics of leading a pack and making difficult decisions for you and your pack as a whole, ok?"

"Yes, mother," Lucian stated.
"Now, hypothetically, you're the alpha of your pack. What do you do if there is an altercation between two wolves within your pack?"

"You have them fight it out. One wolf can be the victor and settles the issue."

"Not quite, Lucian. You could have them do that, however that should not be your first choice.

First, you must pull the two bickering wolves aside and talk to them to find out what the problem is.

If the issue is not a threat to you or the pack then you can decide how they should handle it. If the issue is of grave importance then you must have the overall decision. Does that make sense?"
"Yes. The alpha should not concern himself with little matters that are something children fight about. Alphas have a responsibility to themselves and to their pack to ensure the best choices are made for the survival of everyone."

"Exactly. Lastly, this is most important, Lucian. How do you rule as the alpha of your pack?"

"Umm... an alpha wolf must rule justly, and harshly. He can never let people see him as weak because there is always going to be someone in the pack to try to challenge him for that position.

Also he must rule logically as well as have a heart because in certain situations he will need to be able to connect with his pack and make decisions that can't be solely based on emotions.

Lastly, the alpha male must do his best to be the best leader of his pack until someone better thinks they can take his place. Right, ma?"

"You know, my son, I could not have said it better myself. You're going to make a great leader someday." Lucian smiled at his mother's comment.

While Lucian was still learning from his mother, Lycon snuck up behind his son, tackled him and put his face in the dirt.

Lucian was kicking and struggling to get from underneath his dad's paw.
Lycon started laughing. "Now son what have I taught you, you must always be on your guard!"

"EVEN IN MY OWN DAMN HOME?!"
"YES!" Lycon growled.

Lucian growled so furiously that his eyes turned jet black.

"If you weren't my father, I swear I would have killed you for doing that dumb shit."
"Lucian, watch your words. That is your Alpha you're speaking to," Lykina quickly stated.

Lycon let his paw up off the face of Lucian and pierced a hole in him with his eyes as he got up. "You think that me teaching you to always be prepared for anything is dumb shit huh!? Any rouge wolf can sneak up here and tear you and your mother to pieces if you are not on your guard! Do you understand that dumb shit!?"

"My apologies pa, I was just pissed that you interrupted my training with my face planted in the dirt yet again. I am aware that everywhere a wolf goes is not a training environment, it's reality and there is no try again. You get it right now or you don't ever get another chance to get it right."

Lycon calmed down and said, "that was wisely put, you will make a great leader someday......but not today, you still have a lot to learn!"
They all laughed in unison.

The next day Lucian and his parents were walking through the forest and decided to go on a hunt for training purposes, but the hunters became the hunted.
