Deeper in the darkest part of the Black Forest, lived an alpha wolf and his mate, with their little cub; their respective names were Lycon, Lykina, and Lucian.

They resided in a cave the size of an igloo. The baby had innocent, light brown eyes just like his mother and the father had dark brown eyes.

The parents wanted to start their own pack, but Lucian still had some learning and growing up to do. As a result, they would put all their focus into making sure their baby is the alpha of his pack one day.

Lucian grew a lot from when he was a cub; he was as big as a wolf that’s 4-8 weeks old, but he was still a pup.

The family of wolves would have days where they would train in areas of combat, leadership, and hunting.

Combat training consisted of Lycon wrestling with his cub; the alpha male told his son, “If you can take this stick from my jaws, you win.” Lucian responded with, “Peace of cake dad!”

The first try: Lycon stands a good distance from Lucian. Lucian darted towards his target and in a blink of an eye his father leaped into the air, knowing his son couldn’t reach those heights yet.

His father stated, “Lesson number 1: The farther you are away from an opponent that sees you the more time you give them to react to your attack.”

“Man Dad!, You know the heights you jump are out of my reach… for now!”
“Well, jump like me, son,” Lycon smiled.

Second try: Now that Lucian was closer to his target this time, Lycon lowered his head to tease and agitate him. Lucian swug at his dad’s jaw, missing it only by an inch. Lycon dashed passed and circled his son before he could react and pinned his face in the dirt.

“Lesson number 2: you must be able to move faster than your opponent, especially when you are bold enough to come into their face!”

“Well maybe your face should not have been holding the target I was aiming for.” Lucian smuggly stated.

Final attempt: Lucian was remembering what his father said, “ Do not be too close or too distant from your opponent. Be ready to react quicker than your foe as well. Always be more steps ahead of them.”

Lycon stared down his soon to be alpha son; Lucian stood his ground. Both of the male wolves sprinted towards each other, but before Lycon had time to react, Lucian slid underneath his father and pounced on his back. Lycon tried to shake him off, but his grip was strong, so the alpha male rolled on his back to get him off; afterwards, Lucian tried to use that opportunity to smack the stick out his father’s mouth. Lycon knew he would try that, so he attempted to pin his face in the dirt yet again, however, Lucian saw that coming and dodged it.

The winning move of Lucian was him biting his father’s dominant leg and tripping him up, causing him to drop the stick and Lucian was able to retrieve it.
