Chapter 2 — Mean Girls

Being so many years ago since me and Simon attended this school, to our relief, there are no familiar faces around to question why we're starting here as seniors again. Although, I'm quite a natural these days of making my way around these things — being a Shadow Hunter might train you to be a good warrior, but it also trains you to lie. Good or bad, this has come in handy for me.
Telling people I'm a daughter of the Angel might just freak them out a little.

I had met a girl called Emma Carstairs and her boyfriend Jules Blackthorn — they seemed nice and said we could all sit with her at Lunch.
I opened the doors to the cafeteria with Alec mumbling on about how he and Magnus hadn't seen each other all day — I wasn't listening at all. I searched for the table where Jace would be. I scan for his mop of golden hair, or his black attire.

Alec suddenly goes quiet, nudging me in the arm with his elbow gently.

"Clary, you might want to see this", he says, in a tone as if to say, 'stay calm and don't lose it.'
I follow his gaze and my eyes land on something which makes me want to burst into flames — fuelled and flaming and furious.

Kaelie, the school's 'Queen Bitch' (which Emma labelled her earlier) along with her friends, are sat at a table. Immediately, I note their short skirts and tight shirts.
But this isn't the only thing to be noted; Jace is sat at their table, and Kaelie's hands are placed possessively on his chest.
She whispers something in his ear, and I ready myself to pounce.
My boyfriend's expression remains amused and somewhat disgusted, stifling his laughter of how ridiculous she was trying to seduce him.

Alec's grip falls lose on my arm as I start towards them.

"Oh, Clary," Kaelie says with a smug smile on her face. She takes her other hand and places it with the other on Jace's chest.

"Jace, come on," I tell him.

He starts to get up, but Kaelie ushers him back down.
"Calm down, Clary. I'm just doing what I do best with Jacey."

I force a smile, reaching for my boyfriend's hand. He intertwines his fingers with mine.
"Well, you're obviously not too good at what you do best, because Jacey doesn't look impressed, Kaelie. Step away."

"What gives you the right to tell me what to do?"

"I don't have to have a right when you're practically pawing away at my boyfriend," I counter.

"You don't have to be so possessive, Clary. It must be unattractive to him," she retorts, raising arched one eyebrow as if she's so, so, so smart.

"Well, I have to be when girls like you won't leave him alone. I think I have that right, at least," I tell her.

"I don't think you do," she responds with a snap.

I step closer. "Trust me, I do."

Kaelie removes her hands from Jace, who looks to be with relief. With a roll of her eyes, she clicks her fingers once, and her friends rush to move to her. Kaelie starts towards the cafeteria door, and the rest of them follow.
Alec chuckles in amusement at the sight, waving jokingly as they leave.

"Is that supposed to intimidate me?," I ask Jace. "I'll see who's intimidated when I go Shadow-Hunter on her ass', I grumble.

Jace pulls me onto his lap, pulling my hair back behind my ears. "You're so cute when your jealous, your face was almost the colour of your hair, Clary," he whispers, his infamous grin beaming on his face.

"I swear," I say, "if one of them lay a hand on you again, I will have to use every move you have ever taught me on them', I said, still angry.

"I taught you well, Red Head', he says.

"Yeahhh, don't call me that', I say, my arms wrapping round his shoulders.

A.N || Guys, I'm trying so hard not to change the plot for you. But it's truly so hard😂 Looking back on this, not only am I reminded on how bad my writing used to be, but also how bad the plot was. I'm trying to better it whilst not changing it too much for you.
Sorry if you see major changes, it just means the plot at that point was just that bad🤦🏼‍♂️
