Chapter 5 — The WeekendI wake up, rubbing at my eyes. Clary's red hair is spread on the pillow like a halo. She's an angel lying beside me, eyes closed, sunlight dancing on her face. She doesn't hesitate under my touch as I raise my hand to her face, only presses her cheek further into my palm. She's still asleep, and I don't want to wake her, so I carefully take my hand from her face.
Instead of waking her, I take my phone from the side cabinet, texting Alec.
To Alec: it might be the sexiest thing ever, not being woken by an alarm.
From Alec: I'm telling Clary you said that.
To Alec: oh, by the angel, don't do that. The competition between her and my alarm clock might just be too terrifying to watch.
Clary stirs, her eyelashes fluttering, causing me to put my phone back on the side. Sighing, she sits up higher in the bed and nestles her face into the crook of my neck. She presses a kiss there, and my skin turns warm where her lips were.
"Morning," I speak, softly, careful not to disturb the tranquility of the moment.
"I really want pancakes," she says, grumpily, showing me a frown.
I reach down and peck her frowned lips. "Clar, you might as well just tell me to get up and make some pancakes."
"But you're supposed to want to do nice things for me without me telling you to," She replies, falling back onto her pillows as I gently push her body off of me, standing from the bed.
"I'm supposed to know without you telling me first?" I question, grinning down at her. Her eyes are closed again, and she's draped back over my pillow.
"You're the boy. Boys are supposed to be mind readers. You don't do something because I ask, you do it because you know that I want you to do it," Clary mumbles into my pillow. "How do you not know this by now?"
I chuckle. "I'm going to pretend that what you just said is neither sexist nor impossible."
"Pancakes," is all she mutters.
"On it."
'Thank you," I hear her voice call as I walk out of our room.
From Alec: Magnus has ordered me to pancake duty.
To Alec: I'll meet you in the kitchen, then.
From Alec: at least we know that we're the men in the relationship.
To Alec: yet we can't wear the trousers.
I hear my brother laugh as I slip my phone into my pocket, and I find him, pan in hand, at the stove in the kitchen.

It's short, I know, I'm sorry. And it's also been forever since I've edited and updated. It's hard to study for my finals, apply to schools and work on my extra writing in order to get into those schools.
One of my works that I'm using to apply is published now. It'd be great if you could go and read it and give me some feedback. You're my audience, and that stuff matters to me.
Find it in my works now, it's called Lighthouse. As always, thank you for all of the endless, lovely comments and messages!
