ANNABETH WAS STILL at the hospital that very same night, she had locked herself inside of the bathroom. She was staring at herself in the mirror, her hands trembling as she desperately clutched onto the sides of the sink. She was trying her best to make herself feel something, anything for the passing of her mother. She tried remembering memories from when she was younger, she thought about birthdays, about vacations, about something... anything to make her feel something.

But all she kept remembering was how horrible she had been to her since the day she decided to stop being a hunter. Out of everyone in the family her mom was the worst of all the reactions, which she found strange considering she wasn't even a by blood Argent.

She can still recall the morning after she quit like it was yesterday.

It was the next day after she told everyone she was done being a hunter for good, she had spent the night puking her guts up because after a week of what she did her stomach was still upset with her. Her room smelled like stomach bile from her bucket next to her bed, but luckily she didn't have anything left in her stomach to lose by the time she woke up. Her mother hadn't said a word to her that night, but that was until she used the key she kept to her room and came inside.

She demanded that Annabeth get up from her bed and so she did, she felt weak and dehydrated but her mother could care less as she watched her stumble to her. And when she looked up to meet her mother's gaze she was instead met with a sudden sting on the skin of her cheek, it had taken her a few moments to realize that her mother had just slapped her. Her head was turned to the side from the impact, tears welling up in her eyes as she slowly held her trembling hand to the contusion on her face.

But it wasn't the slap that left her feeling hollow inside, it was her mother's words.

She told her that she had never been so embarrassed and ashamed in her life, that Annabeth had just betrayed the endless bloodline of Argents. She told her that... she was no longer an Argent but instead, a traitor. And then she said that due to the rules of her family the choice to not be a hunter and protect werewolves was punishable by death, and then she said that Annabeth was lucky that her father wouldn't be able to live with himself if anything happened to her.

She was then told to lose contact with any of her family that weren't aware of her choice, for she could no longer speak to anyone of the Argent bloodline who had no idea about it. She was also told not to interfere with Allison eventually being trained, to never let her know how things truly were behind closed doors with her family.

She was told to lie, and hide how much of a disappointment she was to the entire family and those before them. And then... she walked out of the room with the bucket in hand and slammed the door behind her. And as Annabeth dropped to her knees, sobs leaving her lips, that's when she realized that her mother no longer loved her... she hated her.

And she was certain that nothing was gonna change that.

With every good memory she could find, that one always reared it's way to the front of her mind and she just... she remembers how neglected and unloved she felt because of her mother. So it makes her wonder... why should she feel anything for a woman who made her feel so worthless at the lowest point in her life?
