bro wtf is this straight crap

Here's yet another chapter all about shipping. I talked about how I was going to do a lot more chapters about this topic in the one titled "i would rather ship kaeya with a shoe than with lumine". This time, it's all about gay and lesbian ships with some more focus on the new rare pair ship: Yaeyato.

The points I make on here is also applied to some straight shippers. I'm just making a chapter about gay and lesbian shippers since I've been seeing a lot of this problem popping up in the community, especially with Yaeyato fan arts coming around.

I'm 100% not against gay and lesbian ships. There are some that I like and that I ship myself! But some of those shippers are really toxic and hate straight ships just because it's a straight ship lmao. To defend their opinion, they say false things about the characters' sexuality and call it "canon" when it's not.

People can have their headcanons and whatever but they shouldn't be forcing them onto other people. It's really not that hard lol. Because of the Yaeyato ship, people are suddenly complaining about how "toxic" the Genshin community is because "these shippers are shipping anything straight even tho it doesn't make any sense". But you can easily say that for a lot of the gay and lesbian ships out there too.

(EDITED) - Other than the hate on yaeyayo because it's straight or doesn't make sense, some people hate it too because Yae watched Ayato grew up which they call "grooming". Grooming is when an adult intentionally gets close, be friends with, etc. with a "child" (in the US, this means anyone under 18) with the intent of engaging in sexual advances.

It's cool if you see Yaeyato as "uncomfy" and "weird", but don't label it as something it's not just because you don't like it.

I also found that apparently (and it's a hard emphasis on apparently) the ship yaeyato was made to make fun of lesbians so that's another big reason why eimiko shippers hate yaeyato and its shippers.

Say that this IS true. That doesn't mean every yaeyato shipper ships them because they hate lesbians lmao..... hell, first thought when I saw yae and ayato fanarts was: "oh wow they're cute".

And then some people are saying that yae is "lesbian coded" so if you ship her with any guys, that's "lesbiphobic/lesbophobia". One reason she's lesbian coded is because of her resemblance with a honkai character who's canon lesbian.

Anyways - someone making straight art and shipping straight ships doesn't mean they're homophobic or whatever lmao. To be homophobic, you have to have prejudiced/be prejudiced and/or have negative thoughts about the idea of homosexuality. Same applies with lesbiphobic but just with lesbians.

I've also seen some people say fetish-sounding things to try to argue why they hate straight ships or why gay and/or lesbian ships are better:

idk why but boy x boy and girl x girl are way cuter and wholesome than boy x girl. like when I see a boy x girl, it looks cringe and not cute. is it just me?

I dont care what anybody says and btw I'm NOT fetishizing gay people but yaoi ships are LEAGUES BETTER and the straight ships are always SO forced

Straight ships are just so vanilla and boring..... like gay and les are more appealing to look at

Whenever I see a straight ship kiss it's so gross and I hate it sm but then I see some lesbians and like yes queens!!!

God forbid people who actually likes straight ships and makes fanart or content on them. So many unneeded comments pop up whenever I see an artist post about a straight ship.

Shipping as a whole isn't a problem. But there are 100% some shippers out there who DO make it a problem. Straight ships are cool. Gay ships are cool. Lesbian ships are cool. Rare pairs are cool.

Do you have a favorite ship (one with and without the Traveler in it)? If so, what is it and why? You can mention more than two! That's really hard but maybe Chongling for one because I just like the idea of a calm guy and energetic girl. Albelumi because I love the moments between them in the stories and I think the idea of Lumine possibly having to fight Albedo one day when he loses control is so intense and good. Ayalumi and Kaejean are my other two favorites that I really love!
