Weeks had passed. I and Zion got closer. I don’t want to consider him as my friend at first but I realized that he needed one. I decided to let him live at my apartment with me so he didn’t have to look for other apartments or boarding house here in our town.

“Uy, sungit, tara na!” He did a handsign before walking out of the door. I followed him outside and locked the door. It became our habit to go to school together. Walang malisya, we’re just friends.

I entered the driver’s seat, thankfully, my dad bought me a new car that I can use when attending school. It’s less hassle than commuting. Zion sat on the shotgun seat. I started to drive and after half an hour, we arrived at the University. I parked my car first and then started to walk towards our room.

“Sungit, malapit na graduation, ano plano mo?” Zion suddenly asked while we are walking.

Plans? What kind of plans? “I don’t have any specific plans except following Ysa abroad before she…” I looked around to see if there’s someone near us. I lowered my voice. “gave birth.” Wala pa kasing nakakaalam dito sa school about doon. Well, it’s good for me and Ysa. No issues means normal life.

In the past few weeks that we’re together, I already comfortable talking with him about my problems. Even this thing about me and Ysa. He became my living diary when I needed one.

He nodded before answering, “Hmm, ayos ‘yan. Sungit, ninong ako, ah?” He whispered.

I chuckled, “Bawal ka. Baka tataguan mo ang anak ko kapag Christmas.” I whispered again to him which made him laugh. We’re like stupids here na nagbubulungan tapos biglang tatawa.

“You’ve got a new friend, huh?”

Mula sa likod ay may umakbay sa kaliwang braso ko.

“Staive.” I greeted. It’s been five days since I last bond with him. “What’s up?”

“Nothing much.” He smiled and glanced at the guy beside me. “Hello, Zion.” He greeted him but Zion just smiled and waved his hand. He’s weird sometimes.

Bumaling siya sa akin, “Are you sure that you’re going abroad after we graduate? Doon ka na ba hahanap ng trabaho?” He asked.

I sighed, “Yep, my decision’s final. After a month when we graduate, I would follow her there and also find a stable job. You know, I have a big responsibility there.”

“Pero,” Zion joined the conversation. “Wala ka na bang balak na bumalik pa dito kung sakali? Doon ka na ba maninirahan?” He asked when we reached our room.

I shrugged, “Honestly, I really don’t know. I am still undecided at saka matagal pa naman ‘yon. Saka ko na lang pag-iisipan.”

Staive nodded, “Sabagay.”

Nagkwentuhan pa kami at tumigil naman nang dumating na ang professor. The first two morning class of mine is somehow challenging because they gave a short quiz na hindi pa naman nalelesson. Just to test our stock knowledge lang naman daw.

When the lunch break comes, sabay-sabay kaming tatlong pumunta sa cafeteria. Si Zion na ang nagpresenta na umorder.

“Bro, Pia’s birthday is coming. She’s inviting us.” Staive suddenly told me.
